London Fashion Week - Part 1.

I feel ridiculously behind in writing these up, but it has been such a crazy time for me recently, so much going on! Part of me wondered if maybe i'd actually left it too late to write up about London Fashion Week at all - but at the end of the day, we've got a whole six months until the next one, and when does looking at beautiful clothes on a catwalk ever really get boring?!
Day 1 at London fashion week.
Last year was my first ever visit to LFW, and some of the blagging skills I learnt were invaluable! (read my handy blagging tips here to brush up in time for next season!)
So this year, me and my friend Harriet - armed with probably a bit TOO much confidence and a bucket full of PMA (positive mental attitude) - were determined to blag our way into something amazing! Saturday morning, with our hopes high and our heels even stupidly higher, we set out to the beautiful Goldsmiths Hall where the first show of the day was meant to be the amazing Henry Holland.
Naturally, we were ticketless - but we were certain that this wasn't going to stop us. When we arrived, we were first in the queue, & watched so many press approach the front of house staff explaining that they are.. definitely on the list, they spoke to so-and-so, their tickets never arrived, they're long lost relatives of Henry, etc etc. Lines that clearly didn't serve them well, we watched as so many were turned away! However, we still decided to carry on waiting patiently - with our sunglasses on to add to that crucial look of 'i'm actually a somebody'! We watched as celebs made their entrance, the swarm of paparazzi growing bigger & bigger by the minute, snapping anyone who arrived in a taxi - even one woman who actually stated 'I'm not anyone important!' It all started seeming pretty certain that we wouldn't get in. However suddenly, thanks to the paparazzi making outside the venue an absolute chaos, the door staff had no choice but to quickly usher everyone inside - INCLUDING US...sans ticket!
I have never been so excited/in so much disbelief in my entire life. Alexa Chung, Nick Grimshaw, Pixie Geldof, Brix Smith, and Hilary Alexander were all there. IN THE SAME ROOM. It was a little bit crazy.
Alexa Chung getting up to speak to some fellow 'frow buddies!
The collection was full to the brim with dogtooth - Holland's signature print for this season, and the whole collection had a slightly more grown-up feel about it.
We spoke to Pixie Geldof after the show, and she told us how proud she was to see Henry's collections grow each season, and how she agreed that this AW'12 collection certainly had a more grown up feel to it.
Brix Smith (you may recognise her from Goks Fashion Fix!) speaking about the collection!
The next show we attended - one we actually had tickets for! - was Spijkers en Spijkers. Their collection was very cute, there were elements of 20s flapper girls, combined with quirky aztec prints.
I'd heard of Spijkers en Spijkers before, but didn't know a lot about their designs, so it was really nice to put a name with a face so to speak!
Our last show of the day was Bernard Chandran. After seeing how lovely the invite was, I was excited to see the collection!
We were lucky enough to end up on the frow for this show - my first 'frow experience! All I can say - is I now understand why some choose to wear sunglasses whilst sitting on the front row, the lights are BLINDING!

I really enjoyed Chandran's collection, this final image & look being my personal favourite, I love a good patterned tight, and the sheer skirt layered over just looks amazing - hello styling inspiration!
So, this was my first day at LFW AW'12. It was all a bit of a crazy whirlwind really, involving many food breaks, buying a cosmopolitan in a can from Marks & Spencers.. stay classy Louise!, trying to hail taxis in the pouring rain, meeting some lovely journalists in the VIP area, wearing sunglasses AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, and switching between flats & high heels every five minutes. The thing that always brings us back down to earth with a bump, is catching the bus back to Liverpool street once it's all over for the day.
I didn't really think my LFW experience could get any better.. but stay tuned to find out how it really did!
