Purple Magazine Spring 15 “Masculin Féminin” | by Anders Edström and Naomi Itkes
I love this editorial shot on high speed film. The graininess is quite painterly.
Gender is something that is being played with and discussed at great length right now in this industry- I've been seeing it for years through art school and what-have-you. Minimalism can be kind of soulless if done in a way that simply explores the facade, and although these ensembles are graphically minimal- there's a life to everything. Sheer pieces and curved lines are sensual, while tailored, utility-piqued accents provide so much of an offset balance that these photographs seem to beautifully see-saw, making you take a closer look. I love that 6th image.
