10 Beauty Products Every Woman Should Own

Every once in awhile you’ll catch a beauty post over here but I never truly delve into makeup tutorials or topics of the like. Why? I have absolutely no clue what I’m doing when it comes to makeup. Zero. In 27 years of girldom I’ve mastered the eyelash curler and filling in my brows and you know what? That’s good enough for me. But just because I’m clueless when it comes to this art form doesn’t mean I don’t love practicing. Over the years I’ve tested hundreds of products, mostly in an attempt to find what will work the fastest and most effectively since I’m quite possibly the laziest person you’ll meet when it comes to beauty maintenance. So, for you other lazies that love a worthwhile products without having to test everything in your local CVS and Sephora stores, here you have it: The 10 beauty products that every woman should own. A huge thanks to Bluemercury Georgetown for never-ending mind blowing beauty lessons and my mother for letting me sit on her bathroom floor, emptying all of her makeup bottles onto my face and arms as a kid. Kudos to you, woman.

Anastasia Brow Pencil

By this time we’ve all seen this quote floating around Instagram or Pinterest, ” Don’t let anyone with bad eyebrows tell you shit about life.” And just like any random Insta quote, truer words have never been spoken. If you want to keep handing out unsolicited advice to every friend, coworker, and hot dog vendor that comes your way, you best get those brows in check.

Bare Minerals Prime Time Eyelid Primer

I’ve been using this little tube for about a week and I’ve already bought two more just in case a comet hits earth and they stop making it. It’s a rare treat when my eyeliner doesn’t smudge and decide to take residency on the upper part of my lid, you know, right under the eyebrow. I wear a liquid liner to work and every single day I’m swiping and blotting that area to get rid of that unwanted smudgy black line. A tiny bead sized drop of this stuff swiped across your lid and you’re good for 24 hours, maybe longer. No sh*t, this stuff is magic. It can also be used as a brightening cream.

Bare Minerals Well Rested CC Eye Primer

I’ve been a long time user of this Kiehls’ Facial Fuel Eye De-Puffer but always wished it came in a tinted version. The patron saint of puffy eyes must have been listening because this miracle stick is everything I’ve always wanted. I dab it in the corners of my eyes then cover my under eye area all the way down to my cheekbone. Hello, bright eyes! Wear it alone for a casual weekend day with just mascara or layer it underneath your concealer for extra coverage.

Tarte Eyelash Curler

If you don’t have to curl your eyelashes then don’t worry about this little tool, and also I hate you. But, seriously. I’ve been curling my eyelashes since high school and this is the best wand I’ve found to date. The curler is super cushiony and the padding on the handle is divine.

Mary Kay Ultimate Mascara

No, you can’t get this at a local store but like… I’m sure you know at least 72 women that sell this stuff and it’s totally worth it. Lush, full, voluminous – I know all these words mean the same thing but this mascara does everything I’ve ever wanted a mascara to do. It’s ah-mah-zing. I get it in the blackest of black and load it on till I’m bordering on spider lashes JUST KIDDING impossible to do with this wand. Long story short, I die for this mascara. Go get 17 tubes.

The Lib Scrub in Clementine

My lips are always chapped. So gross right? A little swipe of this stuff in the morning and at night and I no longer want to rip my lips off when I wear a dark lipstick. DS tip: Use this scrub to help take off every last bit of your lipstick!

M-61 Power Glow Peel

I’ve worked up to using this peel on the daily and my skin has never felt better or looked fresher. It’s not harsh and doesn’t burn but it gets in a cleans deep to leave your skin glowing. Added bonus, it leaves your face smelling like oranges!

M-61 Hydraboost Eye

Best eye gel I’ve ever used and I’ll never use anything else. Period. Morning and night. Invest in this now.

Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-Powder

I originally purchased this little bottle to create additional volume on Day 2 hair days but soon learned it’s actually a dry shampoo. SCORE. It’s advertised as “equal parts dry shampoo, style extender, and volume in a pinch” and it absolutely does every one of those things. Day 2 and 3 hair products now consist of this happy pink bottle and a quick spray of Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray.

Clarisonic

After about a year of exfoliating with one of those knock off versions I invested in the classic white Clarisonic brush and could. not. be. more. pleased. This is one of those tools you want to invest in. It doesn’t matter what type of skin you have, this sucker magically makes everything better. Think about all those concealers and creams you’ve used trying to get beautiful, glowing, even toned skin. I’m telling you – start with this puppy and you can toss all those jars out the window.
