Style...It's Personal

Style. I flip through hundreds of magazines, watch dozens of stylish shows, exhaust myself shopping and yet nothing inspires me more than the people I surround myself with or the places I visit.
You can't buy personal style. Sure, people try. But, you don't need to be an editor at Vogue to spot "fashion" that's desperate, contrived or forced.
Below, a few of the people, places and things that inspired me in 2012.
Campus Cool

Above: My youngest sis Marissa is broke as a joke and lives in a dorm room, yet always looks effortlessly flawless. Sigh.

Dirty Thirty

Fascinator: Kitty Andrews Millinery. Dress: Topshop. Shoes: Rick Owens.
This summer, my Brooklyn dwelling bud Lauren turned thirty. Turns out, she wore exactly what I thought she'd wear as she entered her third decade as a style maven.
Sibling Chic
Top left: My sis Amber shows us why you should be wearing red lipstick and twisting your hair into a sock bun in 2013. Right: My sisters and I mixed brights and embraced the jewel tone trend in 2012. I can't wait to toss that peplum top, but those cork Manolo flats I'll wear til' the end of time. Bottom left: I've always loved how my main man Bri rocks the Ray Ban Wayfarer shades. Also, never underestimate the power of a simple fitted Lacoste t-shirt.
Boho Babes

This is what my pal Jenny, far left, and her Tahoe livin' friends wore while wine tasting on two wheels. I don't remember what I wore, but I had never felt so inappropriately dressed for an occasion in my life. God, I need a hat.
Sartorial Splendor

I hired Katie my intern in 2012. Look at her. Totes adorbs right? When your twenty-year-old intern comes into the office looking as chic as above, you best step up your game! Check out Katie on her newly minted fashion blog Sartorial Splendors.
Marveling at Madge

My best bud Tracy, top left, doesn't like posing for photographs, but enroute to the Molson Centre in Canada she caved, or I forced her, I can't remember. Tracy and I ended up vogueing in the front row for that Montreal show. Madge, above, bounced around stage scantily clad or in custom pieces by Gaultier, Prada & Chanel.

Travel
2012 brought trips to France, Vieques, Puerto Rico, Quebec City, Montreal, NYC, San Francisco, Napa and more. Nothing inspires me more than travel. It's amazing to see what sort of outfits people put together in lands where JCrew is nonexistent

Vintage Louis Vuitton trunks at Les Puces de Saint-Ouen, the world's most famous flea market.

Looking forward to all who inspire me in 2013.
