ODYLYNE Fall 2013 Collection

The universe is eternal that it does not live for itself…it gives life to all.

Kelsi was my introduction to ODYLYNE, and it they were a small, independent brand I became instantly smitten with. I was so thrilled when I wore this ODYLYNE dress at Texas Style Council (it’s f’real hard not to fondle the gorgeous fabric all day long). I’ve been thinking about the dress a lot and plotting where I can wear it next. During WWD Magic, I spotted Kelsi (again) wearing a new gorgeous ODYLYNE frock, an Incan print dress (seen below(. It’s then that I realized that this may not be a one time fling, but that I was developing a longer love of the designer’s collections.

Two of the collection’s Galaxy pieces — compared to the first photo, these remind me of the deeper nebulas in space. Contrasted against the nude silk, it reminds me of deep space contrasted against the pale dunes of a desert. Am I showing my nerd cred if I say they remind me of the amazing designs you’d see in Star Trek or a sci-fi movie? Gorgeous and otherwordly, dramatic and unique. A design that feels familiar to us, but at the same time is a bit strange and unusual.

Kelsi wore the Incan print dress on the right, and I love it. The colors are gloriously neutral, while not fading into the background. For some odd reason, I’m really attracted to “Rachel Zoe Style” and these pieces embody it. Easy to wear, strong, statement pieces.

This seasons collection has a little bit of late summer flirtation, with this gorgeous, blousey peach dress. I love that the slitted sleeves remind of my continued love of 70s fashion. It combines the glamor of disco with the earthen tones of 60s. This backless paisley maxi dress is amazing – does anyone else feel like, if Mad Men made it into the late 60s, we’d see Betty Draper in this? With a newly babe-ified bod and a hot young new husband?

Somewhere between the boho California vibe and the galactic space girl is this stunning collection of blacks. California blacks. For the sunshine laden girl desperately wishing for autumn foliage and snow. This black and white striped sheath is so easy, and that damned word–effortless. The bottom left, probably my favorite from the collection – so perfectly fitted and dramatic.

For the majority of my life, ODYLYNE falls into the “if I were another girl” category. Pieces that inspire and tickle the side of my mind that passively intakes beauty and style that may not fit my life or style, but I appreciate (and covet) nonetheless. I appreciate so much the fit on many of these dresses – they may not be one size fits all, but their generous cuts means more flexibility and styling on a plus size gal like me.
