What I Wrote When I Wasn’t Here…

Since returning from our Thanksgiving London & Dublin trip, I’ve spent most of the time a) battling a nasty, lingering chest cold, b) curled up and enjoying the holidays with our friends, c) writing guest posts at Trashy Diva!

Trashy Diva is a wonderful, local New Orleans business that I’ve been supporting since college (otherwise known as: 10 years!). It’s been a lot of fun to have a new space to write in, and I thought I’d share some of my posts from the past few months…

Holiday Hollywood Pinups! I came across a ton of darling Classic Hollywood actresses doing cute Christmas pinup shoots. I love this photo of Cyd Charisse posing with a sweet St. Bernard. They’re one of my favorite dogs (I’m DYING to own one). There are also fabulous photos of Clara Bow, Marilyn Monroe (posing IN a Christmas Stocking!) and Rita Hayworth!

Outfit of the Day: Christmas Cookie Swap – I paired my favorite Ballerina Mini with a striped shirt & woodland creature necklace. I also share my favorite holiday cookie recipes (many I received from friends, after tasting their amazing cookies!). This outfit was perfect for the mild winter day AND being around kids all day long!

Sometimes I enjoy the sweet simplicity of recreating iconic looks with modern pieces… in this case, I had a BALL trying to recreate famous Christmas pinup art by Gil Elvgren and Vargas into wearable outfits. Most of these are lingerie-based outfits from pinup art which isn’t a bad thing! We can all use a few more pinup worthy moments in our lives, right?

Garren and I enjoyed a fun night out to celebrate the opening of Trashy Diva’s Uptown Lingerie store! There were delicious cocktails, super great giveaways, belly dancers, burlesque dancers, and amazing discounts. I picked up a stunning kimono-esque shawl that is what I call my “Misty Day” wardrobe. (Anyone else obsessed with her Southern Swamp Girl meets Stevie Nicks style?)

And if Santa didn’t get you anything good for Christmas or you want some vintage, va-va-voom accessories, check out my post on sweet Stocking Stuffers. My stocking had two bags of Cherry Cordial Hershey Kisses, which are the best and only kisses I eat! I love that they taste like chocolate covered cherries, without the actual cherry. I used to eat them as a kid, and leave the cherry in the box. What an asshole, kid Ashley!
