Prepping for Governor’s Ball 2013

Meet Taylor Davies one of our favorite NYC bloggers and the voice behind Shut Up I Love That Shirt on You. She’s here to give us the scoop behind everything you need to see and hear this weekend at Governor’s Ball. See how Taylor gets prepped for the NYC festival below, and check back next week to see her Governor’s Ball adventures!

I think I might be more excited for this weekend’s Governor’s Ball than anyone else. Seriously. I’m a major music junky and have been to more concerts than I can count, but I have never been to a festival. This year’s 3-day line-up is shaping up to be incredible, with some of my favorite musical acts like Beirut, Kendrick Lamar, the XX, Beach House, and Kings of Leon. To get prepped for the weekend, there are two things I’m only minorly obsessing over:

What to wear: This will be three days of concerts in the sun, under the stars, and all outdoors. And remember, this is New York City not Indio. There will be subway rides and city skylines and (hopefully) it won’t be 105 degrees. I need outfits that can take me from a grassy field on Randall’s Island to an after party on the Lower East Side. I’m thinking — a breezy dress with festive flats and matching separates that can pull double duty for more than one day of wear. They’ve got to be fun enough for a festival and chic enough for the city, which, in my mind, is what DV by Dolce Vita is all about.

The music: I’ve been crafting the perfect playlist of songs from my favorite Gov Ball bands that I really hope to hear out on Randall’s Island. From my favorite up-and-comers like The Knocks and MS MR to major crowd-pleasers like Kanye and The Lumineers — these are the jams to know before you go:
This weekend is going to be a crazy and amazing adventure, and I can’t wait to share my experiences with DV Style when it’s over. And, probably after a very, very, long nap.
