Listen while you work: 3 favorite podcasts

Is it just me, or does it seem like podcasts have really taken off lately? There are times when I need absolute silence when I work (like writing), but sometimes things get a little too quiet in my apartment (even Dobby can’t play with squeaky toys all day!). Certain tasks are just second nature and require less thought, and that’s when I turn to podcasts to keep other parts of my brain engaged. Here are three of my favorites:

Lady Business Radio

Lady Business Radio feels like you’re eavesdropping on a juicy conversation. Jessica Kupferman has a talent for getting her guests not only to reveal great business advice, but also to keep things light, personal, and fun. My favorite interviews include Nicole Antoinette, Ash Ambirge, Kelly Edmonds, and Alexandra Franzen.

The Lively Show

I’ve been reading Jess Lively’s blog pretty much since I started reading blogs. Her work has given me a lot of insight into my life and business over the years, and her podcast is no exception. It’s conversational and always gives me something to think about. Favorite interviews include Pat Flynn, Tina Roth Eisenberg, and Kelly Lilien.

Being Boss

Being Boss just launched this year and has quickly become a favorite of mine. Blog posts from Kathleen and Emily are the kind I’ve always dropped everything to read — I love their insight and straight talk. They bring this same energy to their podcast. Each episode, the two discuss a topic business owners struggle with, from money to being professional. I enjoy hearing both of their perspectives on the topic, coming from different backgrounds.

I’m always looking for new podcasts to add to my list, so tell me in the comments: have I left out any of your favorites?

P.S. I’m also a big fan of Serial — but that’s more of a listen-while-I-drive podcast instead of listen-while-I-work so I don’t miss the details!

P.P.S. My interview with Yoneco Evans for her podcast The Thriving Solopreneur.
