Obligatory 2014 Round-Up

I have been too busy making the most of my last days in France to blog - and yes, that includes a trip to the local pharmacy and Sephora. Still, I wanted to make sure to write one of these "2014 round-ups," mainly so I would remember the good times. It's so easy to look back on the last 12 months and only see the bad and the ugly, but now I have a bit of perspective (cough, four days, cough,) I can see 2014 wasn't all that bad. Here is why:
I finished my MA

After almost two years walking the halls of Central Saint Martins' One Granary Square building, I finally handed in my last ever project, which you can see above. I'm not going to lie, this was a proud moment. It was also the time I had to say goodbye to education and my beloved student life and had to officially become a grown up. Sigh.

And I got to celebrate with the best people

As a matter of fact, I flew to Dublin a few days after handed in said project for a little weekend away with some of my best friends. We did everything girls typically do when celebrating - that is chat about everything, eat delicious food, shop, drink bubbles and spend too long getting ready in our hotel room before hitting the town.

I went to Morocco

This was certainly one of the highlights of my year. I went with four of my closest blogging friends, Sarah, Tanya, Sarah and Michelle and had the best time! I did have to learn how to be a translator interpreter in between trips to the beach, cocktails of rooftops, a slightly traumatic but oh so hilarious visit to the local hamam, delicious Moroccan food and shopping for the perfect pouf, but it was all ok apart from a few lost-in-translation moments.

I checked quite a few plays off my list

2014 is the year I fell back in love with the theatre. I did catch a fair few plays and musicals in 2013, but the last 12 months were on a whole other level. The theatrical highlight of my year was probably catching one of my favourite performers and actresses, Lea Salonga, in the Miss Saigon gala, last September. And yes, the heat really was on in Saigon that night.

And saw quite a few gigs

I remember the days, back in high school, when my friends and I would talk about moving to England someday and go see the Arctic Monkeys and the Kooks every weekend. Of course, this was completely unrealistic, but it wasn't until last year that I realised I really ought to go to more gigs now I do actually live in London.

I graduated and got to wear a funny hat

France doesn't get graduation ceremonies and so naturally, graduation became THE highlight of my year. Even my parents came all the way from France to visit and cheer me on as I walked across the stage! Neither of them speaks English so they don't come to the UK very often. In fact, it was the first time they visited since I moved to London, almost four years ago, so it was tremendously fun showing them around town and making them discover my London.

I did some serious growing up

It sounds like an awful cliché, doesn't it? But 2014 really was the year when I grew up. First of all, I got my first freelance contract when I started working at InStyle as their acting features assistant. I also met new, incredible people and had to say goodbye to a few, including Michelle who left for Hong Kong a few months ago. A whole lot more went on, but nothing worth mentioning on here. All in all, I am very grateful for everything 2014 brought. Yes, even the not-so-good.

I started a YouTube channel

It'd been on my to-do list for a while, but I finally got around to create my own YouTube channel this year. There isn't much on there yet, but it is a work in progress and I am really enjoying it so far. I was also surprised at the amount of people who did remember my first venture into the YouTube world, six years ago. Did you?

So here is to 2014, which despite everything else that went on, still turned out to be a pretty good year! And I have no doubt 2015 will be even better! I know this is a bit of an odd post for this blog, but I thought I'd share something a bit more personal today - I hope you don't mind!

What was the highlight of YOUR year?
