Avocado, the superfood that we love

One of the most fruitful foods, rich in nutrients. The avocado, which not too long ago was only popular in a few areas around the globe, has now made its way around the world, convincing experts, chefs and foodies of its beneficial qualities and earning a spot as a staple in many different cuisines.

But what exactly does the avocado have to offer? The most notable element is its high content in Omega 3 fatty acids, that are good for the heart, brain, and vision, and also help regulate cholesterol and prevent cardiovascular disease.

It also contains monounsaturated fats that help control the level of triglycerides in the blood, which helps regulate conditions like diabetes.

This fruit of South American origin is also rich in minerals like magnesium, potassium and vitamins A,B,C,D,E and K. Thanks to its vitamin D content, it’s also high in antioxidants. And folate, present in vitamin B, helps prevent the formation of the nerve fibers associated with Alzheimer’s Disease.

But that’s not all. It’s great for preventing cataracts in the eyes and even some types of cancer.

Avocados are high in Omega 3 fatty acids, which are highly beneficial for women

Esthetically speaking, it’s perfect if you have frizzy, damaged hair, because it hydrates and strengthens hair and helps prevent hair loss. Its natural fats are also highly beneficial for hydrating skin (by eating avocado, or applying it directly to skin as a mask).

We’re talking about a very nutritious fruit that can be enjoyed in many different fresh, nutritious and healthy recipes.

That’s why it’s often the key ingredient in salsas like this one suggested by Allrecipes.com, Avocado Feta Salsa. A fresh, summery appetizer, perfect for warmer weather and springtime gatherings that goes great with pita or tortilla chips. All you have to do is stir in the main ingredients, among which are avocados tomatoes, onion and garlic, together with feta cheese, olive oil and vinegar to get those fresh, tasty results!

Tuna is a fish that goes well with the texture and flavor of avocados. That’s why the combination of these two ingredients in tuna tartar, like this recipe from Yummly is the perfect option, especially if you want to surprise special guests with your culinary skills, but have little time to cook.

And of course, we couldn’t leave out the internationally renowned dish, guacamole. BBC Food shows us how to make this popular appetizer with the freshest ingredients possible, with a few on the list that may even surprise you. This mouth-watering delight is sure to be a hit, perfect with tortilla chips.
