Downsizing My Makeup Bag

I’ve been constantly on the go recently with work & blog meetings, events and workshop – yes, my whole life revolves around my job and blog – and while I normally pack half my beauty collection in my bag (as I like to prepare for everything) it’s been taking its toll on my bags and my shoulders, so I’ve had to take a step back, empty out my entire bag’s content onto my bed and rethink what I really need to have with me.

So after fussing around for 3 hours last night – yes it took me that long . . . DON’T JUDGE ME!! – I’ve finally settled on my Holy Grail beauty products and what products should make it into my makeup bag.

I don’t normally carry my NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Benares (RRP £31) around with me as I’ve always been terrified of losing it or it exploding in my bag but as I don’t tend to wear makeup to work; preferring to do my makeup at lunch or after work, I need something that is very comfortable to wear but still gives the illusion of perfect, blemish free skin. I actually need to repurchase this and my NARS Creamy Concealer in Amande (RRP £22) but I’m waiting for SOMEONE – yes I’m looking at you Space NK – to do a sale so I can grab a tiny little discount.

I’ve been setting my makeup with my Guerlain Terracotta Bronzing Powder in No. 7 (RRP £31) which technically is a bronzer but it’s the EXACT shade as my face powder, very finely milled . . . but in prettier packaging.

The Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara was one of the first products I reviewed on my blog 3 years ago and I still love it with a passion. I find myself repurchasing this every 3 months as I use it almost every day – when I can find it anyway as it has this weird tendency of hiding under my bed – as it’s one of the one mascaras that make my stubby lashes look longer and more voluptuous which is great as I have Bambi eyes so I need lashes like curtains and an eyeliner as black as night . . . Ok, I’m starting to sound like a Mills & Boons novel, what I mean is I love very black eyeliners and it can’t get any better than L’Oreal Paris Perfect Slim and Kevyn Aucoin sldhsj.

I think that’s really it for the basics – brows not included – but I these are the products that I adore and can say are worth every penny. I know they are a bit pricey but I really feel that I’m paying for quality products that last for longer, benefit my skin and do their job with no excuses and that’s really all I need from a ‘Holy Grail’ beauty product.
