Anniversaries

The word anniversary reminds me of wedding anniversaries however they do not only mark the number of years a couple is married. An anniversary can mark the start or end of something, they can be both a celebration and a remembrance.

Anniversaries can be very difficult times as they can mark the end of something like a death, a job or a marriage. Anniversaries can be as difficult as the event that they mark as the same feelings and emotions could be brought back to the surface. It is also natural to compare what situation you were in a week, month, six months, a year or years afterwards to the situation you are in now and feel the loss you have experienced.

For me anniversaries that mark endings are particularly difficult, I become very aware of how quickly time has gone and am quick to mark when a month, six months or a year has passed.

However anniversaries are also very happy times and mark the beginning of happy events like a marriage, purchasing a new house, having a child or getting a pet!

I find that anniversaries are a mixed bag as they can mean different things to different people and they can mark happy or sad events. Anniversaries can also impact people years and years afterwards, particularly if they mark the death of a loved one.

This blogpost marks the first anniversary of this blog and I am so proud of myself for managing to keep up with drafting regular posts as well as studying and doing placements. I am also so pleased with how the blog looks and am glad that I have been able to use my writing and creative skills to develop it.

Most of all though I am so grateful for every single person who reads this blog and supports me. Thank you very much!
