Red Carpet Watch at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards

Who could forget (much as we really all do want to forget!) the raunchy performance of Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke in last year’s MTV Video Music Awards? The very same awards show where One Direction received boos instead of accolades when they received the Best Song award. This year, the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards is expected to be as full of shocking surprises as the previous year.

Aside from rooting for their fave artists, music fans also look forward to seeing them walk the red carpet. Artists tread a very fine line between looking absolutely fab and appearing shockingly gaudy. For MTV VMA, fashion style often is “edgy”. Among those we’re expecting on the red carpet this year are leather (would any music award be without it?), animal prints, and glitter, glitter, and plenty more glitter. Blings and sequins may add sparkle under those bright american dj par 64a lamps but too much of them would make one look like a crystal ball gone loose. Hopefully, no one’s going to look like a walking chandelier this year.

Miley Cyrus’ Wrecking Ball is turning out to be a popular choice for Video of the Year. Let’s hope that she doesn’t wreck the red carpet with another of her outrageous – bordering on hideous – getups. Other nominees include Beyonce, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Iggy Azalea, Pharrell Williams, Sam Smith, and Kanye West. Come August 24, we’ll see if they’ll rock the red carpet too.
