In an attempt to recapture my youth, as well as embrace the 70s vibes hitting the catwalk at London Fashion Week and on the high street, I thought I would revisit my love of flares, so I went bargain hunting at TK Maxx, and I founded these amazing high-waisted beauties with more of a modest flare to get me back into the swing of things.
I know I feature jeans a lot, I’m an addict just waiting for a support group to be set up, but it felt good to wear a more relaxed style, I love my skinny jeans and they certainly aren’t going anywhere, but I really think that flares and wide-leg varieties are going to replace boyfriend jeans this summer as the go-to relaxed style.
I love how flattering flares are, especially when you go for high-waisted ones like these, and if you can find in a darker hue then all the better, but I thought that this faded pair had more of a 70s vibe to them. I think the only thing that would have made them excellent would have been a few more inches so that I could have worn the most amazing 70s worthy wooden platform heels. Instead I opted to go with flats, which is something I wouldn’t have thought would work with flares, but I love the casual touch these Converse hi-tops bring.
Add to the look a touch of subtle double denim, it’s the closest I will get to sporting a Canadian tuxedo, but in this transitional weather I thought the denim shirt worked well under my long cardigan, and to make the shirt more of a statement I turned up the cuffs of the cardigan so you could see it.
I also wanted to keep the shirt unbuttoned as this T-shirt screams 70s loving with its fun and quirky peace hands print, it really is calling out for a festival to attend, and these cute pink Boden sunglasses are so perfectly fun, they kind of make this outfit I think, I’m totally obsessed with the shape and love wearing them, so if the sun could stay out for longer than a couple of minutes that would be nice!!!
Are you ready to embrace flares again?
