March Goals & Gratitude

Raise your hand if you’re already overwhelmed with how quickly 2015 is blowing by. Anyone? Anyone? Okay, just me then.

Hello March! Goodness, you’re a sight for sore eyes. I’m thrilled that I live in a part of the world that experiences all four seasons, but winter is that awkward guy at the bar hanging around for too long… It’s time to move along buddy.

There is a certain beauty in this time of the year. The gray light and dead trees are all reminders of what we have to go through in order to reach that orgasmic rebirth. And it’s nice to snuggle up and drink warm drinks and wear pretty layers…

At the risk of overwhelming you with an unending list of all I’m grateful for right now, I’ll nestle it under one big umbrella: I’m grateful for Greenville. I spent a few weeks away and, before that, was racing and traveling every weekend, and now I’m in a blissful stretch of time where I get to be in one place, MY place, and just live. There are lovely places to train; I’ve settled into my routine, organized my life and space and time my way; I love my support group– my physios, my yogis, my knitters, my coffee shops, my church. It just feels so good to have a place of my own and the ability to be selfish in my schedule. So Greenville, thank you– I’m so grateful that I’m here.

As for goals…

1. Loosen up my hammies! I think I have the tightest hamstrings in the world. I’ve been dedicating each month to working on a different yoga pose or skill (Jan = headstands, Feb = balance), so March will be my month to open up my hamstrings and hopefully push my entire practice so much further (and, yes, my running will have tremendous benefits as well).

2. Show my favorite people I appreciate them. And I don’t just mean via text. I want to prove, through actions, that I’m grateful for the important people in my life.

3. Cultivate patience with my family. This is a rough time for my family… my parents’ divorce is ugly and my relationship with my brothers is slowly beginning to mend. It’s so easy to lose patience and run away from it all– so this month, I need to find grace in the situation and just choose love.

4. Finish some crafts. Gosh, I have so many WIPs right now… time to pull out that quilt I never finished, use up that fabric I bought, and actually get a knitting project (or 2 or 3) done!

5. Write. I write every day– but most of the time, it’s blog posts here or for clients or freelance articles. I need to make time to journal and I need to make time to write the creative work that’s jumbled up in my head. Make it a priority!

What are you grateful for right now? What are your goals for the month? How will you make March the best month of the year (so far)?
