Getting Back on Track with Novice Fitness Bingo

Novice Fitness Bingo is a game that uses modified bingo cards. The rules are adapted from 75-ball bingo, which Iceland Bingo explains is the more dominant form of the game in North America: Players are given one bingo card each, and as they fulfill items on the cards, “the players cover them or ‘daub’ them. The first player to complete a pre-determined pattern on his/her card with covered numbers wins the game.”

What makes the game ideal for those just starting out in fitness is that it was specifically designed to help the students of Mount St. Mary’s Univeristy Spring Into Fitness, so the exercises on the bingo cards aren’t all too hard to accomplish. They’re also easily adaptable to fit your needs, and the environment that you may find yourself working out in. Gather your friends and look through the bingo card and see which items you think you need to replace – should you replace the swimming and pool exercises with jogging or yoga exercises? Should you add more recreational activities just to add a bit more of a fun factor to your bingo cards? It’s all up to you!

Once you’ve come up with your list of activities for the cards, use an online bingo card generator to make the cards and randomize them so each person in your group has their own unique card. Then, it’s time to set off on your grand adventure into fitness. Throughout the next month, as you accomplish activities on the card, cross them out. The first person to complete a pattern – either horizontal, diagonal, or vertical – wins the game.
