A Photo A Day – Week 6/2015 Roundup

I must confess to feeling slightly cheesed off this week. This week was supposed to be all about preparing for my gallbladder surgery on Monday. I finished off everything at work and tidied my desk so my boss could use it as his hotdesk for the next two weeks. I did my meal plan and made sure the fridge was stocked with meals the geekdaddy could easily defrost for the family. I had my pre-op assessment, where my heart rate and blood pressure were checked, and some blood was taken for testing. Then on Friday lunchtime I had a call from the nurse to say my pre-op blood test had come back “elevated” and the surgeon wasn’t happy to operate. So my plan got well and truly messed with. I now have another consultation with my surgeon on Monday afternoon to find out exactly what the blood results are, and where we go from here. Anyway, after that rather large moan, here is my collection of daily photos for this week:

Sunday 1 February 2015: Squishy Robot Movie!

My kids have been very excited about seeing the new Disney movie, Big Hero 6, for a very long time. They seem to have been running the trailers in cinemas for months. As a result the kids have been asking to see the “squishy robot movie” for months. Finally it’s been released in the UK, and we went to see it today with some very good friends of ours. I thought my son was going to explode with excitement when we saw the life-sized Baymax in the cinema foyer, so of course we had to take a picture of the kids with him.

It’s squishy robot movie time! #tw #365 32/365

Monday 2 February 2015: An Old Favourite

Every now and again I get tagged on Instagram to share “What I’m Doing Now” with the #widn hashtag. Today I was tagged as I was reading a bedtime story to the kids. I recently unpacked a box of books saved from my childhood, and am very pleased that the kids are now old enough to enjoy the stories I loved many years ago. At the moment we’re reading “Stig of the Dump”, which is a great story

So @tots100 wants to know #widn – I’m reading one of my favourite stories from when I was little to my kids I tag @softthistle and @minibreakmummy if they want to play #tw #365 33/365

Tuesday 3 February 2015: Fresh Bread

I have a fantastic Panasonic breadmaker, which was a Christmas gift from my Mother-in-Law a couple of years ago. Recently I’ve not been using it so much – whilst racing around with work and drama rehearsals I kept forgetting to put a loaf on in the evening. But now things are calming down a bit I’ve caught up with myself, and I’m getting back into the home made bread habit. Here’s todays loaf.

I’ve been rediscovering my bread machine recently – I love the smell of fresh-cooked bread #tw #365 34/365 A photo posted by Ruth Arnold (@r2uk) on Feb 3, 2015 at 2:14pm PST

Wednesday 4 February 2015: Who’s been putting their hands on My car?!

The kids and the husband seem to enjoy leaving these little “messages” for me in the morning. I suppose it’s my own fault for not setting off for work until after they’ve left for the school run.

Evidence suggests my husband and kids got to my car this morning! #tw #365 35/365

Thursday 5 February 2015: Pre-Op Questionnaire

It was my pre-op assessment today, and as part of it I had to complete this amazingly long form about my medical history.

Filling in my long and detailed pre-op questionnaire – one more step towards the gallbladder being removed on Monday #tw #365 36/365 A photo posted by Ruth Arnold (@r2uk) on Feb 5, 2015 at 3:41am PST

Friday 6 February 2015: New Cookbook

Hi, my name is Ruth and I’m addicted to buying cookery books. We regularly have a representative from The Book People visit my office, and I can usually find something that I want. This purchase seemed well timed, as I’d been talking to the geekdaddy about using my slow cooker more. I’m hoping I can find some good family meals in this book.

Treated myself to this book from @thebookpeople this week – looks really good on first glance #tw #365 37/365

Saturday 7 February 2015: Look Mummy, I made my own bed!

My son dragged me into his bedroom this morning and very proudly showed me he had made his own bed. “I did the tucking in and everything Mummy”. Bless him
