5 Things: New Year’s Resolutions.

Ahhh are you ready for another one of these? There’s two things I love about blogging and doing these sort of roundup posts – 1. is of course that it is so full of positivity. People see the New Year as a fresh start, a way to achieve things they’ve perhaps always considered but never done anything about. The second is that you can look back at the last years post and see how far you’ve come. I don’t tend to set myself huge resolutions because what’s the point, I try and make an effort with life everyday and a new year doesn’t change that, but it’s still a brilliant way to think about what you want from life!

Travel More
Number one, hands down, is that I want to travel more this year! I feel like 2014 was really materialistic, as we got our own flat and had to put our pennies in to buying everything! Literally, everything. This year I want experiences rather than physical things. In a couple of weeks we’re off to Berlin, then we have Amsterdam in March, Iceland in May and New York in June. I also become an auntie for the second time this month as my brothers girlfriend is weeks away from her due date – they live in New Zealand and I haven’t seen Sam, my brother, or my baby nephew Owen in over a year. My dads family all travel between the UK and New Zealand a lot and I always told myself I wouldn’t let years pass without seeing my brothers, and it’s upset me a little to have let that slide. Well done family for moving to a place where flights cost at least a few grand! I doubt this year will be the year I get to NZ but we’ll see…

Do Something Big
This month, and probably more likely next, brings big changes for me as I’m planning on doing something a bit different. I won’t reveal too much right now as it’s top secret, but I’ll be announcing the details soon – and no, it’s not a book (although I did say this year would be the year I start my work of fiction!). I think when I tell my family and friends about my plans, they actually think I’m a bit crazy as I already do so much! It’s going to be fun and I think you’re all going to love it! Stay tuned.

Become A DIY Queen
HAHA okay I need to calm down. Recently, while hungover and making poor life decisions, I decided to strip the wallpaper in our hallway. It’s insane, such a big mess – not to mention a big job – but I really want it done so I can have the white hallway of my dreams. I really want to learn how to plaster walls, make my house super energy efficient by concealing every draught, and generally just work on little home projects with Jordan. I find DIY so satisfying, and with Google/YouTube there’s really no excuse for not getting involved. Our flat is a bit of a fixer-upper in some ways so it’s good to see it all coming together. Slowly but surely.

Keep Gymming It
I got in to running this last year and I love it, although I do find it hard to get myself to the gym – especially with these horrible evenings as I hate walking down there in the dark. I really want to stick to swimming and running and maybe start to lift weights – so hopefully this is the year that I really put some effort in to it! I’m sure this is most people’s resolution to be honest. Go January.

That’s pretty much it for me, aside from the usual work harder stuff. I’m determined to blog harder and put so much time and effort in to Nouvelle this year! Thanks for sticking with me in 2014.
