{Glam} How To: Wear Red Right

Why You Love It: A pop of color in the middle of winter? Count us in to warm things up. Plus, the romantic shades to choose from are endless: poppy, burgundy, brick, rose, and more. An outfit has the power to go from va-va-voom to preppy to soft and sultry with just a dose of red.

Why You Stay Away: With Valentine’s Day approaching this Friday (yes, FRIDAY…to the poor boy reading this and slowly figuring this out, you’re welcome), I’ve got a lot questions about what to wear. You want to wear red, but fear looking like a walking cheesy Hallmark card.

The Solution: Dress for the occasion and keep it simple. Last year, I styled 3 lovely women for their 3 different V-day plans: True Blue Valentine, First Date, and Girls Night Out! Each look incorporates a dose of red that is just right for your romantic night.

This year, I designed the perfect how to style board with my favorites for your night below. Check it out!

2 Ways To Wear Red Right

1. Accessorize – Tone down your V-Day look with a pair of boyfriend jeans and match them with a bright red stiletto heel. On top, grab your black and white striped boat neck shirt instead of your favorite red tee. Keep the red as an accent, for instance, a clutch or bag. Feel free to dab lips with a bit of red lipstick and keep nails to a deep burgundy or pale rose.

2. Stand Out – Rocking a red dress? You go girl! To not distract from the beauty of the dress, go for a beige heel and light or rose gold accessories. Light red or a touch of gloss works for lips. Keep it simple.
