Goodbye Valentino

A New Giveaway and Demo!

“DRAPING is the term for using fabric to create a design directly on a mannequin or dress form. It is an essential skill for a fashion designer.”

As in almost every subject, the possibilities for learning and growing are endless. Sometimes I think the more I sew the less I know, but the good news is that can easily change

I have always associated draping with ancient Athenian clothing until yesterday upon opening a package from Laurence King Publishing.
I was asked to promote an upcoming class in New York led by Karolyn Kiissel, author of DRAPING, The Complete Course. Laurence King Publishing was kind enough to send me her book as well.

I hardly know where to begin……….. The book is a 320-page work of art complete with a video featuring 32 tutorials.
After a thorough introduction, the student is led through the progressive stages of draping, each complete with a series of exercises and stylish projects.

Yoke skirts, a Christian Lacroix bustier, blouses, gowns, bias draping, Audrey Hepburn’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s dress, Nanette Lepore cropped pants are just a few of the garment projects.

While I have not opened the DVD, I have browsed each chapter of this beautiful book illustrated with 1200 color photographs of instructions and finished projects.

Would you believe one of the projects is a fitted tunic ?

I am enlightened. I am also giving this book away to one lucky winner!

Please leave a comment if you would like to be entered in the random giveaway. The winner will be announced on Friday, October 31.

But there is more.
Karolyn Kiisel will be in New York offering a free lecture/demo on November 4. All of the details are included in the photo below.

How fun will this be?

I would love to hear from readers who attend this fabulous event!
Many thanks to Laurence King Publishing and good luck to all in the giveaway
