GUEST POST: CREEPY CRAWLY SPIDER CAKE DIY (VEGAS WEEK)

While I'm off enjoying my vacation in Vegas, I have asked the super talented and lovely Courtney from A Little Glass Box to share a Halloween inspired DIY with you all. I gave her free reign to choose whatever she'd like and she came up with a pretty fun way to decorate a cake with spiders! So here she is...
A huge thank you to Kayleigh for allowing me to guest post today, I am so excited to be here. For those of you who don’t know me or my blog brace yourself for some Halloween fun. Halloween is my favorite holiday and I cannot resist decorating and celebrating such a fun day all month long. Today I thought it might be fun to share a delightfully spooky and easy way to decorate a cake for your Halloween party guests (or even if you just want to make a creepy cake for yourself). You know you deserve it. So pick up your fork, grab some milk and be prepared for some cake inspiration.

Step 1: I simply purchased some white spiders at my local Halloween spirit store. I hot glued some on a few wooden skewers and rinsed them all well before using. After making or buying your favorite cake (I chose chocolate and made it myself) the decorating fun begins.

Step 2: To make your cake look as deliciously “perfect” as a homemade cake can look, stack the cake rounds on top of one another with a small amount of icing in between them.

Step 3: Seal the cake with a very thin layer of icing using an icing spatula.

Step 4: Then pile on the remaining icing on top of the top layer and smooth the icing all around the cake and form small peaks.

Step 5: The next part is the fun part. This is where you are able to place your creepy crawly friends you made in Step 1 on and around the cake to send the right amount of spider chill to your guests.

You can go as far with the theme as you want using spider webs and as many spiders as you can catch. And considering a package of spiders is super cheap, you really can’t find an easier and cheaper way to bring the Halloween theme to your dessert.

A huge thank you to Courtney and good luck on putting together and decorating your own creepy crawly Halloween cake!
