Banggood – Leather Sleeves Baseball Jacket

Con il termine “giacca” si tende classificare una vasta gamma di capi dell’abbigliamento maschile. Ma questa generalizzazione non rende giustizia alla sua silhouette, che varia a seconda dello stile di giacca, a cui sono associate estetiche completamente diverse. Una delle più famose è sicuramente la giacca da baseball, la più sportiva tra tutte. Nata all’interno del sistema scolastico americano, si è consolidata all’interno del guardaroba maschile di tutto il mondo.

Tradizionalmente, la giacca da baseball (nota anche come giacca varsity) è formata dal torso in lana cotta adornato da toppe, simboli e scritte dedicate allo sport, la chiusura a bottoni automatici, polsini e girovita a coste, maniche in pelle a contrasto e una vestibilità ampia. Da questo modello ovviamente ne sono nate molte versioni contemporanee: in questo outfit vi mostro la giacca da baseball del sito Banggood, dall’estetica più pulita rispetto alle giacche da baseball tradizionali. Le toppe vanno via scoprendo il torso in lana cotta nera; le maniche (non a contrasto) restano di pelle, ma hanno un effetto di cucitura trapuntato; e infine non mancano i polsini a coste, ma sparisce quella in vita creando un design più minimalista.

Per creare un look che rispecchiasse uno stile casual più rilassato, ho abbinato la giacca ad una tshirt bianca con stampa nera dalla vestibilità leggermente oversize di Henrik Vibskov, un jeans superskinny di Cheap Monday e un riferimento agli anni ’90 con le scarpe dalla suola alta di T.U.K. Come accessorio ho ripreso il concetto “baseball” indossando un cappellino in pelle di D by D.

English The term “jacket” classify a wide range of menswear’s items. But this generalization doesn’t do justice to its silhouette, which varies depending on the style of the jacket, associated with completely different aesthetic. One of the most famous is certainly the baseball jacket, the sportiest of all. Born in the American school system, it has been consolidated within the worldwide male wardrobe.

Traditionally, the baseball jacket (also known as varsity jacket) consists of the boiled wool chest decorated with patches, symbols and writings dedicated to the sport, the fastener snap, ribbed cuffs and waistband, leather sleeves in contrast and a loose fit. From this model many contemporary versions have benne developed: in this outfit I show the baseball jacket by Banggood, a cleaner version than the traditional ones. The patches go away discovering the black wool chest; the leather sleeves (not contrasting) remain, but they have a quilted effect; and also remain the ribbed cuffs, but the waistband disappears, creating a more minimalist design.

To create a look that reflected a relaxed casual style, I paired the jacket with a white t-shirt with black print slightly oversized by Henrik Vibskov, a superskinny jeans by Cheap Monday, and a reference to the ’90s with the platform shoes by T.U.K.. As an accessory I have taken the concept “baseball” wearing a leather cap by D by D.
