2-Minute Holiday Card Display Hack

Thank you to Staples for sponsoring today’s 2-minute #HandmadeHoliday Christmas card display solution!

We’re starting to get Christmas cards (yay!) but every year I struggle with where to put them. Usually they just end up on the mantel, until they fall down, or until one of my kids decides to steal one. Plus, those pretty photo cards people like to send are a challenge to put up that way. The biggest issue I have with the stands and displays, though, is that they don’t take ALL the card sizes into account, and plus, you have to store it all year. So on my last Staples run, I was picking up a white board to get a jump on my New Year organizing, when I thought – hey! I can use this right now! And in just 2 minutes, I had an instant card display that’s useful all year long!

By using magnetic clips on a magnetized white board, you can arrange (and re-arrange) to fit any size or shape card. It’s totally removable, temporary, and re-usable for all seasons – which makes it perfect if you don’t have a lot of storage space to begin with. In case you weren’t already in love with office supplies (is it weird if I am?), let me show you what you need to put together a card display of your own!

  • 17″ x 23″ framed magnetic dry erase board – or bigger!
  • Magnetic clips – I picked up 12, and just have 6 on display here. (Mainly because I don’t have 12 cards yet, haha.)
  • Envelope seals to dress up your clips
  • Optional: Magnetic pencil cup for small items – I put candy canes in mine!

It’s a nice touch to add something festive to your clips, since this is a decor item, after all. You can go with traditional red and green, or choose something that matches your existing decor!

Then, just add the cards you have to the clips, and arrange them on your board! Don’t forget, you can go all the way to the edge, and you can add clips along the bottom, too. Cards don’t have to stay within the frame, and they can overlap a little, too. It’s a great way to add either a little or a lot of cards, depending on how many you receive.

I will squeeze more in as they arrive, but for now I’m filling the white space with a holiday message and with my candy cane cup! That’s the beauty of it – this is totally re-arrange-able to fit your holiday.

If you’re looking for more ideas, search the #HandmadeHoliday hashtag while you’re browsing on your social media, or follow Staples on Twitter and Facebook! They sell so much more than office supplies, too – Staples.com had nearly every type of craft supply I searched for.

Do you have a great holiday decor hack? I’d love to hear it – leave me a comment and let me know!
