Stockholm Cruise Getaway

Back from the dead! Or back from the sea, actually. Recognize the pretty little pink toilet seat?

Yup, it’s one in the cabin of the Silja Serenade Helsinki-Stockholm cruise boat. One from the cabin I made my home the past two days during a cruise I took with B. We came back from our 2-night cruise Friday morning and I’m already ready to go again.

Here’s some of the boat trip in photos – I might post a few more from Stockholm, but here’s for starters!

As a kid, I could hardly sleep for a week before an upcoming boat cruise with how excited I was. Unlike B – who thinks cruise boats are the boringest thing ever. But still I got him to join me on this little Stockholm cruise getaway for some “us” time and for some shopping, of course. Which was the part he probably didn’t look forward as much as me, ha!

We got on the ship in on Wednesday evening, fueled by coffee, and made ourselves home in our cabin with a view on the pretty Helsinki lights. The boat sailed off at 5PM and wasn’t crowded at all; just us and a few Russian tourists! I got to spend some time with B, and what comes to me – the food, candy and chill time on boat always comes before drinking yourself full on cheap alcohol – which is what the majority of young people tends to go on boats for.

*** Not so happy little half-a-lobster and his friends, crab twins, mister Oyster & co! ***

Yep, food food food! We ate at the Happy Lobster restaurant on our first night on the boat, where B had the humongous sea food plate with some not so happy seafood, I has fish with Riesling sauce. Most of the time on board was spent walking around and in the tax free shops, munching on chocolate and being lazy, which was great.
I notice most of my photos are cell-phone quality snaps and quite honest, I hardly even remembered to take any photos. You know how that happens when you’re having a good time and forget about stuff like “have to take photos for the blog” ;o

On the shopping promenade, always happy to wander around the shops etc even if nothing much ever changes.

For those finns with little money, such as myself, a little boat trip can be quite the sweet mini vacation. The only bad thing is, it really is quite a short trip and may easily leave you wishing you could’ve stayed in Stockholm or on board for a little longer!

But a new week’s calling, along with all the new things and projects of the new year. Have a great week everyone!
