DIY Air Plant Garden

This planter was so easy to put together! All you’ll need is a wooden box, air plants

, sand and seashells or rocks.

First, soak your plants for 30 minutes to an hour. Shake gently to remove excess water. Place in bright light and allow to dry.

While your plants are soaking, fill your planter with whatever you like. We chose sand from our local nursery. Isley topped the sand off with seashells.

Once the plants have dried, place them in the sand and….your done. Easiest project ever.

Air Plant Care:

- Water your plant once or twice a week. You can mist them with a spray bottle but it’s best to take the plant out from time to time and soak it. Try to use filtered, well, or rain water. If you are using tap water, put some in a bowl and let it sit out overnight so the chlorine has a chance to dissipate.

-Good air circulation is essential. You want filtered light not more than 10 feet away from a window.

- Keep your plants out of direct sunlight to avoid burning the leaves.

- Do not plant the root or have the plant sitting in water for too long or it will rot.

- Air plants will eventually produce little sprouts, or “pups,” from their base. When a pup reaches 1/3 of the size of the original plant, you can carefully separate it from the parent plant.
