Our Clubfoot Journey : An Update

Yesterday Isley had her much anticipated (by me) 4 month checkup with her Orthopedist. I am always sooo nervous leading up to these appointments! Even though we are doing everything right, and Isley wears her brace at night for 10-12 hours, I still worry about relapse.

The doctor checked out her feet, hips, spine and had her walk around the room a bit. We were so happy to hear him say her feet look amazing and he gave them an A ! Now we’ll go from checkups every four months to every six months and Isley has (hopefully) only two more years of wearing her Ponseti brace at night.

After our appointment, we headed over to Orthotics to have her fitted for new shoes for the brace. She’s only on her second pair right now and I was shocked when the doctor said she need a size 4.5! I knew she needed to go up a size because her little toes are hanging over the edge of her current pair but I wasn’t expecting two and a half sizes! Such a big girl.

So that’s where we are now. I am so relieved everything went well and now this mama can breathe again…until December that is.
