Tom Ford Traceless Perfecting Foundation Review

The first thing on my mind when talking about this foundation is the price tag. Now I wasn't sent this to review and neither am I rich, so this is not something I would normally be able to afford or be able to justify. I was given a £50 Selfridges gift voucher so it wasn't quite so pricey. So, what you want to know, I am sure, is if it is worth the cost.
This foundation has great packaging and an innovative twist up pump, so it’s great for travel as nothing will leak. This is a liquid foundation which provides a light to medium coverage and I purchased Shade 3 - Fawn. It blends easily with a brush or sponge or with your fingers and the coverage evens out skin tone nicely without being too thick or heavy.

It's a fairly emollient foundation so I would suggest it is better for normal to dry skin, and it also is quite light in texture, so not a heavy foundation that will sit in fine lines and wrinkles, which is a really good thing for those of us over 25. I don’t think this would be very good for oily skin and would be worth giving a miss as it stays rather shiny without powder.
Positives for me about this foundation are that it has great packaging, the colour match is spot on, it’s light and doesn’t settle in fine lines and is really quick and easy to apply as it is so blendable. This would be good for someone who had dehydrated skin or is older but who doesn’t have any spots, acne scarring or anything that needs a lot of coverage to hide.

The negatives about the foundation are that it is a bit shiny, and needs a good loose powdering after application. I was also unimpressed that, for the price, the SPF of 15 is rather low. My primer has an SPF of 50 but, for a top price foundation, SPF 15 really isn’t good enough, many other cheaper foundations have a higher SPF than this. It also doesn’t contain broad spectrum protection (ie UVA and UVB protection), it only contains UVB protection which, again, is not very good considering the price.
Overall The makeup packaging certainly looks luxurious, and the pricing is definitely in the luxe price range. Tom Ford's makeup line is owned by Estee Lauder and I wouldn’t honestly say you get anything better with this foundation, foundations that are just as good or better are available for less money from other Estee Lauder owned brands such as Mac, Estee Lauder itself or Clinique. I enjoy using this and will continue until it’s finished but after that I will return to my Dior Star foundation, which I find gives a much nicer finish as slightly more coverage.
