How to wear denim for fashion events

I’m definitely a ‘denim kind of a girl‘.I love wearing them almost always, especially whether there isn’t a reason not to do it.Mainly skinny, of different colors, low waisted and, why not, embroidered and decorated. My obsession has always being so pungent that, at the first fashion show of my life, two years ago, I wore a pair of skinny denim pants with an Ermanno Scervino jacket. As you can see below. And I did it again at the first fashion show of the next Summer season.I don’t completely regret the choice, looking back at the photos, but I have to admitt, I did not feel the most elegant and well dressed person of the room..

If you have asked me now, after several times I went for it, I may say you, I would never go to a fashion show wearing a pair of denim, unless I’ve combined the look with great attention and the right “off duty” attitude.

Here are 5 simple rules that may help you:

1. Wear a skinny jeans with high shoes, elegant and unusual - that become the focus of the outfit. Yes to stilettos, ankle straps and bright colors.

2. Combine the upper part of the outfit – knit, sweater, shirt or top – with the shoes in order to get a well studied and accurated look.

3. Yes to the denim on denim. This style gives the effect of an ‘urban tuxedo’ and has the added bonus of being a plain dress. In winter add a woolen maxi coat or blazer, strictly to wear on your shoulders.

4. Yes to not too wide boyfriend jeans, but rolled up, with white shirt or plain tee – shirt, elegant black coat and decollete. Casual, yet classy and sophisticated at the same time.

5. Always yes to oversized knits made of woolen or cashmere matched with decollete of the exact same color, clutch under your arms and disheveled chignon.
