Vintage Makeover of the Duktig Doll’s Bed

If you are looking for a cute vintage style bed for your little girl then this Ikea Hack is for you. I had purchased the Duktig Doll’s Bed for my daughter but wanted something that had more of a vintage look rather than the modern look it had. So with a few wood elements and some paint I was able to give the bed a vintage style makeover. You can see more details here.

To do this makeover yourself you will need 4 wood finials and 4 wood decals. The wood decals are glued to the top part of the bed head and bed end, I held these in place with clamps.

You will need to drill 4 holes in the top of each corner post and add a little glue to the hole before inserting each of your wood finials.

I stained the wood (this was so when I distressed it later it would have dark wood underneath, just a personal preference) and then I painted the whole bed with Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Apron Strings. I distressed the bed with sandpaper to give it more of a vintage feel before waxing the whole bed.

I also made some new linens for the bed and this completed the vintage look. It was such a simple makeover but gave the bed the personality I think it needed. Hope you enjoyed the Hack! Thanks for letting me share!
