Mixing cool & warm tones: Plum and gold eyes

I have three storage *organizers* in which I keep my makeup. There’s a giant makeup bag that sits on my desk, full of products I use on a daily basis. Then, I have this large box full of special FX makeup, limited edition products, and other makeup/tools I don’t use too often. In my closet is a small 3-drawer organizer of makeup, and it’s kind of like a runner-up to my everyday makeup bag: it contains products I still enjoy and use on a regular basis, but not often enough to have out all the time. Yesterday, I dusted off this organizer and put to use some eye makeup I had almost forgotten about.

I absolutely love pairing cooler shades with warmer tones, and that’s exactly what I did to create these plum and gold eyes. Keep reading to see what products I used to get the look!

What I used:

-MAC Retrospeck eyeshadow (allover lid and inner corners)

-Darling Girl Cosmetics Cydonia eyeshadow (outer 1/3 of lid/crease)

-MAC Trax eyeshadow (outer v/used to darken up crease)

-Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow- from Naked Basics palette (crease)

-Sephora Blonde Ambition Contour Eye Pencil (inner corner and inner lower lash line)

-Tarina Tarantino Ultraviolet eyeliner (upper and lower lash line)

-Mary Kay LE Mulberry Forest eyeliner (used on top of Ultraviolet along lower lash line)

The star of this eye look is MAC Retrospeck- I think the cool undertones make this otherwise warm look very appropriate for the holidays (or another special occasion this time of the year). I’m such a sucker for plums/wines and golds when the weather cools down. They pair so gorgeously together!

Swatches:

From L-R: MAC Retrospeck, Darling Girl Cydonia, Urban Decay Naked, MAC Trax, Sephora Blonde Ambition, Tarina Taratino Ultraviolet, Mary Kay Mulberry Forest

Do you like to pair cool and warm-toned shades together? I’d love to know what your favorite eye look is right now- please feel free to share in the comments below!

Thanks so much for reading, and happy almost Friday!
