Painting Doors Clark+Kensington Madison Ave + A Giveaway!

Our laundry room is off a little hallway by our kitchen, right next to the pantry (or rather, a closet that we use as the pantry) and across from the powder room. It’s kind of in the middle of the action visually speaking. We normally leave the door from the hallway to the laundry room open because it’s a dark hallway, and the light from the exterior door in there helps brighten up the hallway. Our powder room has a light turquoise with grayish undertones, and being right across from the laundry room, I wanted to tie in the two somehow.

With the help from my friends at Ace Hardware, we painted the laundry room a little while back using Clark Kensington Baby Elephant. I’m still happy with this color, and I like how the bold color makes the space feel nice and cozy. I was asked by Ace to do a project that broke traditional paint rules, so I thought I’d step out of my comfort zone of the all white doors that we have going on in our house right now.

For this newly painted door, I used Clark Kensington Madison Ave. It’s a nice light turquoise that gives a little nod to the similarly colored powder room across the hall.

I used Premium Interior Satin Enamel.

It ties in perfectly to our powder room and does just what I hoped – adds a bit of color and cheer to this room.

I think at one point this room was actually a storage area that you could get to from outside, and the washer and dryer were in the closet we use as a pantry. Everything fits in this room, but barely, and the washer and dryer just squeeze in there. When it comes time to upgrade, we’ll definitely have to take a close look at appliance measurements. But, I can’t complain because I much prefer having an actual laundry room to a laundry closet.

I’ve used the Clark Kensington paint a number of times now, and as always, it was easy to apply and coverage was great. I’m happy to add a bit of cheer to this room, since with this baby coming any day now, it’ll be nice to have a happy space to do the extra laundry.
