Jena {Involving Color and Home}

It’s a…

…boy!

We couldn’t be more thrilled (and in case you missed it, here’s my original announcement). We would have been thrilled with a girl too, but now things feel more real and it’s fun to get started thinking about nursery decorating. Marty is already excited to start teaching him tennis. How soon is too soon for baby’s first racket?

Side note: apparently people buy them as early as age 1-2. Marty will be happy. I particularly like the giant rubber ball with this one. I think even I could manage to hit that one.

If you’ve been following my nurseries board on Pinterest, I have a definite theme going on in there lots of navy and bright colors.

I wanted to use navy in the nursery whether we had a boy or a girl. If it was a girl I was thinking coral as an accent, but for a boy I’m thinking turquoise and bright green accents. I’ve been a bit obsessed with navy walls for awhile now, so I’m excited to have a chance to use it. I’m thinking one wall of navy and the rest of the room in a pale silver.

I may or may not use these exact colors below (Benjamin Moore Hale Navy and Benjamin Moore Misty Gray) because I like to sample swatches in the actual space to see how they look with the lighting and decor. You can see other Benjamin Moore Hale Navy rooms I’ve featured on Involving Color. It’s a definite favorite!

The goal of this room is for it to fun, cheery, and warm with lots of contrast.

We are going to have a twin bed in there in addition to the crib which is why I don’t have any seating on my inspiration. We already had the bed, and we figure he will be in it soon enough so decided to keep it. We are thinking it will be a comfortable place for us to do night feedings too.

Since we will have a bed and a crib in there for a little while, we are going smaller with the rest of the furniture for now. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen that we have exact same vintage dresser that I scored on Craigslist for $45! It needs some refurbishing, so fingers crossed it goes well and we can use it.

The frames are from Pottery Barn Kids, so a bit more pricey that I would probably spend. I’ll hunt around for something similar. I actually saw the Babyletto tree bookcase on my friend Amy’s blog, Eat. Sleep. Decorate. and I thought it was about the cutest thing ever (which I’d of course end up trying to DIY). She had posted a couple of nursery mood boards recently, and if you don’t already follow her you should! She has amazing taste.

    I can’t believe I’m already over halfway through! Time is sure flying and he’ll be here before we know it. Lots to do before then!

    Also, are you following me on Hometalk? I share a lot of my own projects there, and I just put together a board with tons of no-sew projects because you guys know I’m all about the no-sew. Stop over and follow along!
