Alexandre Vauthier

The Oscars is on Sunday. I am probably not the only one that watches it purely for red carpet action.

Ever since the Globies, I cannot get this dress out of my mind.

After some interweb digging, I find out that this gown worn by Michelle Dockery is by Alexander Vauthier. Having worked in the Thierry Mugler design studio and worked as the head designer of Jean-Paul Gaultier’s couture collection, this young designer has finally stepped out on his own.

He has created many masterpieces that graced many red carpets.

His Fall/Winter 2012 collection can only be described as ethereal creatures coated with gold, dipped in jewels and floated over snow.
