I don’t know what it is, but I have always had a fascination with small, cozy nooks and rooms tucked away in corners. Ha, maybe it’s the princess in me. About 10 years ago, we owned a rental property that was a 1920’s bungalow. Not only did I love the old construction it had, and cool things like an original ironing board tucked away in the kitchen wall, and a original wood work, but it had a storage area in the brick basement that used to be a coal room and it had another strange, small room, tucked waaaaaaay back in the corner that was really dark and hidden. It was super creepy with a door with an old padlock on it.It was probably just a small work room, but we used to joke that that’s where the original owners kept the bodies.
The second floor was a converted attic with an old farm sink (Wish I had kept that!), and lots of books and crannies for investigating. I love all of then “hidden secrets” they probably never really had, but could have and that I like to make up in my head. That’s probably one of the reasons I’m an old house person. I always think about that kind of stuff.
I started surfing Pinterest and I love some of these converted attic room ideas. I wish we had an attic space in this house we could convert. Unfortunately the builder of our 1950’s split level did not have the foresight to go either four more feet up and make it a full attic or four more feet down and give us a full basement. Boooo!
I love this staircase up to this bright and welcoming attic space.
I think this is the perfect size small bedroom or guest bedroom that could be done in a small attic half.
This to me looks like it would be perfect with a converted attic even though I don’t think it is. I love the beams!
I love this sweet room. It looks alike the kind of place you could just sit and dream for hours.Again, sign me up for a nap.
Do you have an attic that you’ve converted or are thinking about? I think it’s such a great option to use unused square footage!
