Introducing the Tulip Print

We love when our clothing tells a story.

This season, our standout tulip print does just that. The tulip print is many things: whimsical yet graphic, modern yet distinct. Our tulip print was hand-painted exclusively by one of Jigsaw’s in-house designers. Brigitte Atkinson, Jigsaw Fabric Buyer and Technologist, sheds light on the origins of the print.

Our tulip print was inspired by a vintage swatch that we found at a flea market in Paris. We instantly fell in love with the tulips and knew we had to feature them in the spring/summer collection. Our in-house fabric designer hand painted the print to match our palette for the season.”

As Brigitte mentions, the story began in a flea market in Paris where a simple pattern stood out amongst a sea of items loved and forgotten by previous owners. She goes on to discuss trends and movements within the fashion industry,

“There is a real trend moving towards hand-drawn prints, going back to traditional, more organic methods of screen-printing as opposed to digital printing which can appear very hard and impersonal.”

The tulip print breathes life into something once loved. What most excites us about the print is that it expresses our ability to create something new from something old. We’re aiming to tell a story by revisiting practices of the past because often those are the tales we want to preserve for the future. When it comes to our beloved tulip print, the details are truly in the fabric.
