Five Reasons to Add Rose to Your Beauty Routine

To most of us, we see rose as romantic and fragrant flower, but did you know the other benefits to using rose? Here are five reasons why you should add rose to your beauty and wellness routine stat!

  1. It’s a natural aphrodisiac and mood lifter. Aromatically, rose oil is used for perfumes and why it’s the known worldwide as the “love” flower and the scent naturally gives an instant mood lift. “Stop and smell the roses…..”.
  2. It’s a digestive and detoxification aid. You can drink rose water to help with inflammation, constipation, and increase circulation! Beauty inside out.
  3. It has healing properties. Not only to the gut but especially to the skin and scalp, when applied topically. It’s been known to help cure dermatitis, eczema, and other topical skin issues. It also has high content of natural Vitamin C – a great use for sun damaged skin
  4. It’s antibacterial. For those us who are allergic to tea tree oil (ME!) its great for use in acne and as a deodorant, and a natural use to cure bacteria on the skin like rosacea.
  5. It’s highly moisturizing. Commonly used in lip balms, facial moisturizers, and even hair care products as the oil extracted from rose is a natural emollient!

Below are some of my favorite beauty products that unlock the benefits of rose for hair, body, skin, and stomach!

Georgia Louise Rose Water & Lift Sculpt ButterFly Stone - If you’ve been following me for awhile you will know that I think Georgia is a goddess. Not only does she do my facials and make me feel and look a decade younger than I am, I am obsessed with her handmade all natural product line. It’s very niche and only found online at her boutique and at Shen Beauty in Brooklyn, but that is what makes it so special. Her rose water is an amazing toner and skin refresher and smells so wonderful. The Rose quartz massage stone is known for it’s healing properties as you massage away your fine lines, toxins, all the while sculpting model cheek bones. Shop here.

DeMamiel Rose Lip Balm I was drawn to this rose balm as I started educating myself of the ingredients in other famous rose lip balms (will not name names!). Nourishes my super chapped winter lips, and I know I am not eating any toxins and does not contain petrolatum (dangerous endocrine disruptor found in MANY lipbalms!). Also doubles for cheeks and eyelids when you need a extra “glow” boost. Read more here at CAP beauty (one of my favorite beauty destinations for all natural and safe products!).

EO Wild Rose and Coconut Serum I’ve been looking for a natural hair serum that I didn’t have to DIY that contains coconut, but is all natural and what do you know! 100% organic made with coconut oil and essential oils – not only does it smell like a blooming fresh cut rose but also does what is says it does – hydrates, deep conditions, and nourishes the hair and scalp. Can be used as a heat styler as well on wet hair. I love applying as a finishing product or on second day dirty hair that needs a bit of a lift. Check out other reviews here on Amazon.

Pure/Drinkable Bulgarian Rose Water I discovered this water when I was shopping a co-op in Santa Monica (basically the homeland to everything amazingly crunchy) and LOVE it. It’s multipurpose. I use it as a hair rinse, I put it in vodka soda’s, drizzle it into my smoothies, use it as a toner, and in my humidifier. So many amazing healing properties inside and out. Read more about it here.
Coqui Coqui Rosas Freca All Natural Perfume I honeymooned at this perfumery in Tulum and this scent transports me back to that special time! It’s a sexy rose scent that layers well, all natural, and a little unisex. Once only available in Mexico they scents are shipping stateside! I can replenish now. Purchase it here.

Weleda Wild Rose Deodorant - since switching my deodorant from Secret to a natural brand, I’ve tested a lot of products and realized through this process I have a tea tree oil allergy, so finding a natural deodorant that works and doesn’t leave me smelling manly by the end of the day was a challenge. I love that it comes in a spray and feels fancy, but is 100% natural.

*One Love Youth Eternal Springs Rose Serum - Starred as admittedly I haven’t tried this product yet but it’s in my queue! I’ve heard wonderful things about the brand One Love, and the combined ingredients in this serum’s positive effects on the skin – particularly to acne and rosacea prone skin (MINE!). I love that it’s fair trade, 100% organic, and reasonably priced for that hefty of a title. I’m all about collecting beauty oils as they are doubly hydrating and leave a gorgeous glow… just read the “glowing” reviews here on Birchbox that will easily convince anyone!
