Midweek Runs

My plan this week is to have a slightly easier week after Sunday’s 25 miles so I decided to miss the Monday Fartlek session and go to the Cinema with Katrina instead! We watched Selah about Dr Martin Luther King and it was excellent.

So to keep my 5 runs per week for Jantastic I ran Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Tuesday – easy recovery run

I ran after work on one of my 5 mile routes. I could feel my quads after Sunday so that’s a good sign that I thrashed them! They eased off as the run went on but I’m glad I took Monday off.

Wednesday – Tempo run from work

I wasn’t sure whether I should or could do a hard tempo run as my quads were still a little sore. So I decided to set off and see how I felt. My first option was to run 1 mile easy, 2 hard, 1 easy, 2 hard, 1 easy, 1 hard but during the first 2 hard I thought I could manage 3miles hard, 1 easy, 3 miles hard which would leave me 0.5 miles cool down.

I was pleasantly surprised that I kept up the pace but looking at my splits I was slowing down for the third mile of each set.

I was really happy with that. Both 3 mile sets were pretty even though my HR was higher for the 2nd one.

Thursday – Easy run to work

I left at 7.30am in the light. I run the same route each week and there are 2-3 dog walkers who I greet each week. I wonder if they are looking out for me as I look out for them! I tend to see them at about the same place so they must be creatures of habit as much as me!!

I was thinking about my Half Marathon the other day and wondered what my time would be based on my 5k on Saturday. So I put it into www.runningforfitness.org and it came up with ….

In 2013 I ran the Inverness Half Marathon in 1hr 27mins 32secs so I would like to get under 1hr 28mins. I need to predict my time for the March Challenge of Jantastic so I’ll think about it a bit more over the next few weeks.
