Eine Bootstour von Khasab zum Fjord Khor Sham

Ganz ehrlich? Ich bin sooooo froh, dass wir aufgrund der stürmischen See unsere Route ändern mussten, denn so kamen wir in den Genuss, wenn auch nur für einen Tag den Oman (By the way: Unser Abstecher in den Oman war spontan, es gibt die Route aber auch “offiziell”: Die Costa Serena kombiniert auf ihrer Route die Arabischen Emirate mit dem Oman) kennenzulernen, und in den längsten und eindrucksvollsten Fjord Musandams zu fahren.

Honestly? I am soooo glad that we had to change our route due to stormy sea because this led us to enjoy the Oman, if only for a day (by the way: Our detour to Oman was spontaneously, but the route is also available „officially“: The Costa Serena combines the Arabic Emirates with the Oman on its route). We even went into the longest and most impressive fjord Musandams.

Wir legten am frühen Donnerstagmorgen im Hafen in Khasab an. Zu Fuß konnten wir von unserem Liegeplatz zu einem traditionellen Dhau-Boot laufen, mit dem wir kurz darauf unsere Fahrt in den Khor Sham begannen.

We anchored in the harbor of Khasab early Thursday morning. On foot we walked from our berth of the ship towards a traditional Dhau-boat, with which we started our tour into the Khor Sham.

Der Fjord wird übrigens auch gerne als “Norwegen Arabiens” bezeichnet. Es klingt fast zu kitschig um wahr zu sein, aber während wir bei Traumwetter langsam durch das ruhige Wasser fuhren und sich links und rechts hohe Felswände auftürmten, sahen wir zahlreiche Delfine, die zum Teil mit unserem Boot spielten und es für längere Zeit begleiteten.

The fjord is also called the “Norway of Arabia”. It almost sounds to kitschy to be true, but while we slowly boated on the calm waters with perfect weather and there were steep cliffs to the left and right, we saw many dolphins chaperoning us and playing with our boat.

Auf dem Weg begegneten uns außerdem immer wieder traditionelle Fischerboote, da der Fjord ein wahres Fischerparadies ist. Auf den Klippen liegen kleine Siedlungen, in denen die Fischer leben.

On the way we also met plenty traditional fisher boats as the fjord is a true paradise for fishermen. On the cliffs there are small settlements, home to the fishermen.

Straßen auf dem Land gibt es nicht, jede Strecke muss mit dem Boot zurückgelegt werden. Inmitten des Fjords liegt außerdem eine kleine Insel, genannt Telegraph Island. Von dort aus legten die Briten 1864 das erste Telefonkabel nach Inden. Das winzige Inselchen mit den Mauerresten der Station ist von kristallklarem Wasser umgeben. Ein wunderschönes Bild, das mir noch lange in Erinnerung bleiben wird …

There are no streets on the land and each route has to be taken by boat. Amidst the fjord there further is a small island, named Telegraph Island. From there, in 1864, the British built the first telephone cable towards India. The tiny island with remaining walls of the station is surrounded by crystal-clear waters. A wonderful picture that will stay with me for a while …
