True Inspiration.

Ok…I have to admit something. For over the past week, I have spent so much time on my MacBook Pro, on my iPad, or on my iMac starring at images. That’s right…beautiful images that have made me laugh, made me cry or just stirred up many emotions inside of me. Why have I been glued to the screens of these devices…I’ve been voting! Yes voting!

You see, I recently entered a photographing contest along with many, many other photographers from all over the world. Actually over 7000 photographers from more than 100 countries and over 110,00 entries. That’s a huge contest!

Yes…I’m probably crazy thinking I have a chance of winning anything but if you don’t try you’ll never know. My number one supporter and very proud husband was the push behind me deciding to enter. With over $75,000 in prizes who knows maybe I could be one of the lucky winners.

Let me explain a little bit on how this contest works. There were 21 different categories in which to enter images. Each photographer was allowed to enter up to 40 images. This was my hardest part. Deciding which images I thought were my best and maybe worthy of winning something. After hours spent deciding and sizing all images for the contest my part of the job was done. I entered my 40 images.

On February 11th the voting began! Who votes…us! We are the judges! The great thing too, none knows the artist behind an image and therefore just gets to enjoy the art alone. You sit looking at your screen, four images appear from a particular category and you click on your favorite. Simple…Easy…Fun!

This voting has consumed so much of my time because I’m so amazed by how many talented artists there truly are all over this vast world. I just can’t stop looking at all the entries. I have spent minutes at a time voting and hours at a time. The voting doesn’t end until March 11th! So you’ll know where to find me!

Inspired…to say the least. I love my job as a photographer and I’m proud of my work but I have also always enjoyed looking at the art of photography created by many others. So many styles and views. Many have years of experience with Photoshop I can tell and others may be just tapping into their creativity.

In the world of photography and since Pinterest has come to be many photographers seem to always want to copy the work of another artist or try to create a piece that they admire. I guess that’s all fine to a point but there truly is no need to do this. God has given all of us our own talents and eyes to create. You just need to tap into those talents and bring them to life. Look at some of the images in the screen shots I took for this post…see what I mean? Talent!

We can all be a bit jealous of someone else’s work at times, I think it’s natural. However, as you grow as an artist you will find your own style, your own way of editing your images and that’s what makes you unique. That’s a good thing! That’s what’s going to make your work stand out!

So to all those amazingly talented or growing artists out there thanks for sharing a bit of your love with so many of us. I’ve been truly inspired. So with the promised of good weather this past weekend, I grabbed my camera and went outside to capture some sweetness. I can’t wait to share some of my new inspirational images with you. Please join me and do the same…be inspired!

A big shout out to all the staff at “Shoot & Share” for all your hard work in coordinating this contest. You’re amazing! We all thank you.

Now back to voting!
