melbourne

during august, my best friend sam and i made a last minute decision to visit melbourne. we wanted to go on a little adventure, so we bought tickets and headed off. i've been to melbourne twice, so this trip was my third time. after traveling to europe last year, when i explored melbourne this time, it reminded me of a mini london somehow. there was constantly little reminders of that beautiful european city that i kept seeing while strolling the streets of melbourne.

we spent a few days in the city and one day on the great ocean road (that blog post will be coming tomorrow!). we spent every minute walking around and taking pictures, we ate more than we probably should have (there were just too many amazing food choices!), we got lost on the trams, explored all the little streets and laneways, slept too little and got rained on while walking around. it was an amazing trip to say the least, melbourne does it for me every time. it's a beautiful, creative little city and i can't wait for next time!

our first day in melbourne we spent walking around in the rain.

waking up before the sunrise to go on an adventure to the great ocean road.

in the top level of the tallest building in the southern hemisphere. we could see tasmania in the very far distance.

a bar we had dinner at one evening, feeling warm after walking around in the icy wind.

exploring the graffiti laneways. when i first went to melbourne while i was young, i remember being so excited to visit this place, i just had to go back! here is a photo i took there back in 2009 from my first visit, and here's another one!

i thought i'd also share this image i created in 2009 from a photo of the same building.

one of the many places we visited for dinner and drinks at night. we had to come back to this place during the day to take a photo because it was so lovely!

our last lunch in melbourne.

the sun peeking through the clouds and buildings after an entire weekend of on and off rain.

and i also thought i would include some iphone photos i took throughout the trip:

so many great breakfasts and coffees on degraves st / plane views on our flight from sydney / beautiful flower shops in brunswick

endless mountains from the sky / tall buildings / helicopter rides over the 12 apostles

gloomy buildings on our first day / amazing lunches / tram views

little nothings / on our way downstairs from our apartment / melbourne sort of reminds me of new york here
