Palettes for Christmas

I cannot believe how quickly December is going by; it’s like we are in fifth gear. And I have two things that I am dreading – my car insurance and my birthday.

To keep my mind off those I have been distracted by a selection of my favourite beauty products: eyeshadow palettes. If you’re looking for ideas of what to get for someone this Christmas (and cheekily want one for yourself), then read on…

Avon Rose Gold Edition Luxe Eyeshadow Palette* (£10)
I’m afraid the magpie tendencies came out of me when I clapped eyes on the rose gold compact from Avon’s Luxe Eyeshadow collection. This quad includes matte and pearlised shadows infused with exotic orchid extract and packaged in a beautifully chic compact.

Make-Up Revolution Awesome Eyeshadow Collection* (£10)
When I was queuing in my local Superdrug, my roving eye spotted a huge and colourful array of eyeshadows on a giant palette. I left my space to inspect it closely and discovered it’s from Make-Up Revolution. A quick picture sent on Whatsapp to All That Slap’s Grace and Leanne (because only beauty bloggers realise the urgency of something like this) and the girls were begging me to pick one up for them.

I’ve been highly impressed with the Make-Up Revolution palettes I’ve used so I have no doubt in my mind these will be just as reliable. There are 144 nameless shimmer, pearl and matte from neutrals to neons all grouped together appropriately. Grab it quickly while it’s currently half-price in Superdrug (online and in store) from £20 to £10. Amazing value!

Clarins’ The Essentials Mineral Eye Mineral Eye Make-Up palette* (£35)
Clarins has put together a limited edition palette of 10 shades to make you go ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’. Whether it’s playing it safe or smoking it out, this palette will delight anyone who knows Clarins’ worth and they can be used wet or dry. Available at Clarins counters nationwide and at www.clarins.co.uk.

Too Faced Cat’s Eyes Palette* (£35)
A purrfect collection for the feline temptress features nine new shades in matte, shimmer and glitter textures in warm and cool tones, three of which can be worn wet-and-dry so it makes it a breeze for precision lining and a sharp wing tip. This palette is truly the kitty’s whiskers and let’s you recreate the timeless cat’s eyes look. My favourite shades are Tiger’s Eye and Jungle Love. Pick this up at Debenhams online and in store.

Clinique’s Nutcracker I and II*(£35 each)
New from Clinique’s new Nutcracker collection are these two elegant offerings, The Nutcracker Act I (Snowflake Suite) and The Nutcracker Act II (Sugar Plum Suite). Pretty, dainty and delicate, Act I is full of pink sparkles for the eyes and cheeks whereas Act II lives up to its namesake. With sleek packaging, the palettes are compact enough to slip into your purse and would make wonderful stocking fillers too. Available at Clinique Counters nationwide and at www.clinique.co.uk.

Too Faced Chocolate Palette* (£45)
OK so this isn’t a product exclusive to Christmas nor is it limited edition but I am willing to bet it will be found under many Christmas trees come 25th December. There are one or two lousy imitations of Too Faced’s Chocolate Palette floating about – don’t be fooled. Once you’ve caught a whiff of this sweet scented collection which has such saccharine-infused names as Marzipan, Triple Fudge, Salted Caramel and Black Forest Truffle, you will be climbing the walls. There are 16 devilishly delicious cocoa powder infused matte and shimmer shades of browns, pinks and plums to indulge in if you can tear you sense of smell away from it.

Urban Decay Vice 3 (£42)
A girl can never have enough Urban Decay palettes. The latest in the Vice series is numero trois and it is sizzling. I’m in love with the rich ruby and purple shades Alchemy, Bondage, Sonic and Vanity!

I was lucky to grab a Vice Ltd palette on a visit to Selfridges in Birmingham’s Bullring. However Vice Ltd has sold out (it’s showing ‘out of stock’ on Selfridge’s website) so if you missed out then don’t cry your heart out as Vice 3 will easily compensate for the loss.

I used my Debenhams £30 gift voucher to spend in the beauty hall and instinctively I knew I wanted this for myself. There are 20 mesmerising shades and the palette comes in a matching clutch bag. It’s definitely one for those who like a bit of spark in their make-up.

I also bought a palette for Helen for her birthday because I knew how much she wanted it. Just as well a new Debenhams has opened 10 minutes from me which houses an Urban Decay counter. Now I’ll getting my UD fix a lot more frequently…

So, which one is your favourite?
