Another Kiwi Woman's Style - Erin

Today I'm excited to introduce one of new blogging friends Erin from Jogging Pants Must Die. Although she talks a bit funny, Erin is a real kiwi now and I love how she writes it how it is. Wish she lived closer :)

1. So Erin, tell us a little about yourself?
I am a forty-something stay at home mom with an inspiration!!! I don’t want to wear jogging pants, I want to look good. Unfortunately it is all too often that at the end of the day I catch a glimpse of myself and think “how many people have I seen today looking like this?” I thought it looked good in the mirror this morning but NOOOO the mirror was lying. Either that or I was peeling two fighting charmers off each other or the tube of toothpaste mysteriously exploded or the toast was burning or underwear could not be put on by itself or somebody had to poop or… you get my drift!!! Mornings are not my friend!

I read a lot of blogs which are mostly North American, their seasons and ours are totally opposite and I have no idea where to shop for the clothing I think looks good. I also don’t have big bucks to spend, raising a family is not cheap!!

I’m not an expert but I am willing to try things out and ‘be the guinea pig’. The upshot is that I can show you guys know what works for me and possibly what doesn't. Maybe my experiments will help you avoid your jogging pants on a particular dog day in the future. (ED: I love how Erin tries trends and shows us her change rooms pics!).

2. How would you describe your style? Does this change with the seasons?

My before children style was very different to my style now and I guess that’s why I have found it hard to dress myself after having babies. I worked in an office for most of my adult life and always had money to shop. When I had babies my office clothes didn't work for my lifestyle and I didn't have the disposable income anymore. That’s when I started googling mom style and why I read so many mom blogs. My style is an evolving journey at this point. I try to take the fashion ideas I see and make them work for me now. It’s amazing what I've learned just by observing people and how they dress.

3. What tips and tricks to you employee to suit your shape/size/lifestyle that we may be able to copy? E.g. showing wrists to make your arms look longer, etc.

I’m a big fan of proper undergarments. I wear shape-wear religiously. I think it just helps smooth all the bumpy bits out and makes clothes hang nicely. Also a slip is not just for your Grandma! It really does make your clothes hang nicely.

4. How do you learn or discover new things about style, fashion and trends? Favourite websites, stores, magazines or other sources.

Pinterest is huge for me. I am a bit of an insomniac and so pin things in the middle of the night. I then forget what I’ve pinned and have to re-visit it in the morning!!! I use my Pinterest board a lot to help me get dressed. It gives me ideas of how to style things and what new things I can try and how to do it.

5. If the readers could buy just one item to enhance, modernise or update their wardrobe right now – what would you recommend?

Buy what you love but make sure it FITS PROPERLY!! Baggy tops may hide that mummy tummy but can also make you look bigger. Try to add some colour because it makes you look more awake! Accessorize!!!

Thanks Erin xxx Linking you up today with My Style Monday xo
