Trying Out - Kimono Jacket
Hi guys. I thought I'd share a story about being inspired by a wonderful post
here on
Kimba Likes. After reading how to wear
pale skinny's when you are not skinny, I was inspired to firstly to dig out my
pale skinny jeans again, but also to try out a kimono jacket like she did to achieve the long lean look. Just imagine my delight when shortly after, I found this top/jacket (pictured) at one of my local thrift stores for the bargain price of $5.
Now true to my
thrift shopping tips, this garment could have loads of uses. Although I think it's supposed to be a summer weight dressing gown... I thought it would be perfect as a kimono jacket!
True to the philosophy of Kimba Likes and Kiwi Womens Style this outfit is thrifty, comfortable and fun to wear. A kimono jacket is endlessly versatile; think belted, over a fancy dress, with jeans, over a swimsuit and if I get bored, back to a summer dressing gown!
The estimated purchase prices of today's outfit is: Felt Fedora £3, Kimono Jacket $5, Dotti star pendant $5, Next black wide legged pants £2.50, Primark bangles £5, Glassons Merino Top $20 - so approximately $51 (NZ dollars) plus the ASOS black chelsea boots (£40).
So if I still haven't inspired you to dig out your nana gown (or kimono) or go looking for one of your own, here are some other ideas about how you could wear a mid-length kimono jacket (without having to bare your butt checks in short denim shorts - although if you have the legs for it and are feeling that brave go ahead).

PS. if you're really keen I've found loads of Kimono's thrifting lately, happy to pick you up one :)
