How to Stay Motivated

It's no secret that a major part in achieving our goals is staying motivated. But with so many obstacles in our way and so many distractions it's easy to lose motivation, get stuck and just become unhappy. I decided to put together a short list of ideas on how I stay motivated and hopefully you will find something useful for yourselves here too. 1) Reasons. This is a big one. It's a fact that if you don't have a big enough reason to accomplish something, you probably won't. Either change the goal or find a good reason to achieve it.
2) Visualize. You have to have a clear idea on where you want to go and what you want to achieve. If you constantly change your mind or the direction of your goal you lose your energy, get lost and will probably not accomplish anything. That's actually a hard one for me, but I am trying to learn from my own mistakes. As a girl it's hard to have a clear idea of what I want, because it changes depending on the mood, weather, circumstances and time of the year :)
3) Don't compare yourself. I know, in this day and age it's practically impossible. Watching people's lives through their carefully angled lens of their iPhones and multiple filters can really bring you down especially when you have a bunch of problems in your real life outside social media (and who doesn't?) It's important to realize what social media has done to us and understand that it's only human to try to glamorize one's life on social media - it's a way for us to feel better with ourselves. We all do it. So as the say, don't compare your behind the scenes with someone else's highlight reel.
4) Recognize your progress. This one is in tune with point 3 above. We are all different and unique and each of us has our own path. The only person who you should really compare yourself to is yourself in the past, being that yesterday, a month, a year or even a decade ago. If you feel like you have moved forward, then congrats, you have accomplished a lot and you deserve a reward.
5) Rewarding yourself is one of the most powerful ways of staying motivated. When you reward yourself after each small step for the job that you accomplished (and it can be something from a cup of coffee to a trip somewhere depending on the goal and accomplishment) you will create an extra urge to finish what you planned yesterday today and overall will achieve your goals faster and in a better mood ;)
6) Quotes. Nobody likes a good motivational quote better than me. It is a fast and somewhat artistic way to stay on track. I have a bunch of quotes that I read daily for an extra push of energy and drive. If you have been following me on Twitter you know that I like sharing quotes with you guys, so if you'd like an extra motivational boost from me follow me there if you haven't done so already. The other way of having quotes handy, besides hanging them on your wall, is having them on your iPhone case. That way, your motivation comes with you anywhere you go. Thanks to Zazzle, I now have my own personal motivational case that I customized with my favorite quote in the same font as my blog header.
As for the look, I am mixing patterns today in a fearless way (stripes and squares). Phone case: Zazzle. Blazer: Zara. Skirts: Lulus. Boots: ASOS.
Hope you like this little article. Please share with me your tips and tricks on how you stay motivated in the comment section.
