stuff i kind of love n~1

So I've decided to start a new feature on the blawwwg, wherein I gush over objects and ideas that have commandeered my attention! I'm not sure how often I will post this feature, perhaps only when I have enough things to compile into one post. Without further ado... let's begin with Lady the Magazine. I stumbled across this magazine at Quimby's during one of my neurotic print shopping sprees. Lady is a stunning visual-based magazine that is light on the text, instead featuring stunning full-page photography that feels like scenes from a film. In fact on its inside cover, Lady states that it is "not a magazine, it is is a movie". I haven't been able to stop flipping through it. HIGHLY recommended! J.W. Anderson's Spring 2014 collection stole my breath away, as I clicked through Style.com's slideshow each look was lovelier than the last. His love of intense conceptualism really shined through but there was delicacy in the sheer rouched organza and giant knot bows. Maya Singer wrote that collection was pretty, but also possessed levity, and I think that sometimes designers tend to assume that the two can't happen together. See: Dior, Chanel, etc. So it was really refreshing to see J Dubz create a more practical version of ethereal loveliness.

Because I absolutely needed yet another to spend my money on, I've become somewhat of a fragrance fiend. Diptyque has always made my favorite scented candles (Feu de Bois being my ultimate jam) so I finally decided to check out their perfumes. L'Ombre dans L'eau immediately takes me to a foggy riverbank, covered in ivy and wildflowers just after a rain. Now, I haven't a refined nose in any sense of the imagination, but I can tell you that it smells most strongly of tomato vines, roses, and wet leaves. I bought this bottle just a couple months ago and have worn it almost everyday.

If you aren't yet familiar with Welcome To Night Vale, take a breath, silently admonish yourself, and open your soul to its brilliance. It is a semi-monthly podcast set in the fictional desert town of Night Vale, in which there are all sorts of strange goings-on and bizarre happenings. The podcast is staggeringly hilarious with X-Files spookiness and small nuggets of truth about the human condition. I don't want to give away much more, so enjoy the stream below of one of the latest episodes. And listen to them ALLLLL.
