Top 10: Favourite Heroines from Books

Top Ten Tuesday is just what it sounds like. Every Tuesday (or most (I’m forgetful) Tuesdays) I’ll be posting a Top 10 list. This feature is hosted by The Broke and Bookish.

I had a very very hard time choosing my favourite heroines from books but I’ve finally put together a list for you guys. there is one at the beginning from my favourite TV show just because I had to throw her in. These answers are in no particular order because ain’t nobody got time to organise things. Also, I must tell you that in my opinion, a ‘heroine’ is anyone who can have a positive impact on another person’s life. We’re all heroines okay? So basically, this post is just a list of my favourite female characters.

Donna from Suits

Donna Paulsen is just such an amazing character. She has magical wit and a strong sense of self. She might just be an assistant, but she’s also one of the smartest people in the whole Pearson Specter (the name changes) law firm. She’s always perceptive and she always knows what’s happening. Plus, she’s super hot and super hilarious.

Violet from All the Bright Places

Violet Markey isn’t her usual self after her sister’s death takes a massive toll on her mental wellbeing. When she meets Finch, also mentally unstable, they grow together and separately. I love the effect that Violet had on Finch and how she was also able to grow from her experiences with Finch. She was just a beautiful character in a beautiful book.

Isabelle from The Mortal Instruments

I don’t really care that Isabelle Lightwood isn’t the main character. I love her. More so in the books than in the movie but that doesn’t mean she wasn’t totally kickass in the movie as well! I love her bravery and how beautiful she is. And I can’t forget about her awesome and adorable love life!

Yelena from The Study Series

If you know me, then you know that I love Maria V. Snyder, especially her fantasy series with Yelena Zaltana! I can’t even express her awesomeness in words. She is just hilarious and brave in a realistic way. I can’t get enough of her and I love that Maria V. Snyder is giving me more!

Katie from Safe Haven

I love the book and the movie Safe Haven with a passion. It’s probably one of my favourite love stories of all time and portrays a real heroine. She saved herself from her abusive husband and found a way to start her life from scratch. I just think Katie is an absolutely amazing character who spreads a positive message.

Sydney from Bloodlines

I have to admit, I haven’t read the last 2 books in the series. However, I still love Sydney Sage a lot more than I do Rose Hathaway. I love that she’s beautiful and smart. I love that she’s always trying to put other people’s needs first. I love how cute Sydrian are and I just love everything about this series.

Lizzie from The Lizzie Bennet Diaries

The Lizzie Bennet Diaries is a modern day web series adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. It was further progressed through the book The Secret Diary of Lizzie Bennet. Lizzie isn’t your typical girl. Similar to Elizabeth in P&P, Lizzie isn’t looking for the traditional romance. She’s intelligent, she’s witty and she wants more. Until her prince comes along.

Kestrel from The Winner’s Curse

My favourite thing about Kestrel has got to be how much she developed. I love that even though she’s grown up with a very closed and restricted ideology, she was able to break from that. She became stronger and more independent than ever before. All in all, The Winner’s Curse was just an amazing book.

Tris from Divergent

Yes I know, so cliche. I may as well have just put Katniss and Bella in here as well. But Tris is honestly one of my favourite heroines. I love how she developed her own sense of self even in the situations she was in. She books were amazing and the movie was just incredible.

Celaena from Throne of Glass

Celaena Sardothien will always be our badass queen. I think anyone who has read Throne of Glass will fall in love with her eventually. She grows into a beautiful women who’s strong and brave. She never gives up and it’s just so inspiring. I can’t wait to see what the next instalments hold for her.

Also just gotta mention that my mum will always be my number one heroine.
