September Favorites (Abridged)

Hey there! I, first of all want to start out by saying how incredibly grateful I am for all of you. Especially the last couple of weeks when posts on my blog have been a bit scattered. As I said in my last post, I have had material prepared but, I just couldn’t seem to get it all in order. Not to mention I am now having prodromal labor, which basically means I am having consistent, low-grade contractions that are doing ABSOLUTELY nothing but making me uncomfortable.

Yesterday I was in a hospital triage room for most of the morning being monitored because the contractions were coming and going but, I couldn’t feel baby girl moving around very much. Hubby and I just wanted to make sure that everything was going okay and, as it turns out, our little one was just hiding from us. She is healthy, strong, and head down… Now if she would just come on out! They sent us home after a couple of hours to just wait things out. Either these contractions will progress (eventually) or they will just fizzle out and we will see our kiddo whenever she is good and ready. We are officially out of the “danger zone” now that I’m considered “early term” (37 weeks today!) so if she decided to make her arrival anytime in the next three weeks or so, she would more than likely be good and healthy. Ready to take on two big brothers! :)

All that being said I am going to give you an abridged version of my September favorites since we are already a week into October and I don’t have many to share. There are just a few things that I have been really using consistently or that have gotten me by on tough days; of which there have been many. Blow lots of baby dust my way this week, guys! <3

  • I am HEAD OVER HEELS for these Kenneth Cole Reaction leopard print, calf-hair sneakers. I have worn them almost daily for the entire last month (considering I only have about one other pair of shoes that can fit my swollen feet) and they are literally the perfect printed neutral. I got the inspiration for these from RubyAngel711’s blog post on the sneaker trend for this fall. I have always wanted to try slip on’s but never thought they’d look good on me; too grandma-ish. I was WRONG! So far, I’ve paired them with boyfriend jeans, skirts, and even yoga pants! They look great with everything; especially when pattern mixing. And the best part? These were originally $109 and I got them for $49.99! There are still a ton left in stock so go check them out!

  • John Frieda and I go through stages of relationship growth and then quite a few breakups. I can never decide if I like his entire line or just a few products… You know how it is. One minute you’re hot and heavy with a new gel or glaze for your hair and the next second you’re questioning why you every bought it and tossing the half-used container into the trash. But, I have consistently been using this Frizz Ease Smooth Start shampoo for the last couple of months and I have to say, it’s quite fabulous. Since my hair is short now and Shailene Woodley-esque I wanted to de-frizz as much as possible to avoid looking like your average puffball 95% of the time. My hair is so thick and has a mind of its own if I don’t use the right products. — While I don’t love the smell of this particular formula, it truly does wonders regarding how my hair feels and looks; smooth, healthy, and shiny. THUMBS UP!

HERE to see it used in her Kylie Jenner inspired makeup tutorial.) I am ALL about the 1990’s making a comeback in the makeup world. I love the muted colors and honestly, it’s forced me to use my matte eyeshadows/blushes a lot more which I’m very happy about. I intended to do a separate review for this product since it’s something I really do adore at the moment but, right now, that’s just not happening. :( However, the lipstick is exactly as the description– matte but, creamy. It’s EXTREMELY long-lasting although it does come off easily with water and soap. The very first time I wore it, it stayed on from 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m., through my lunch, and an afternoon nap… it didn’t fade much either. I didn’t wash it off until a couple of hours after my nap but, that was because I wanted to, not because it needed refreshed. I’m interested in seeing if more the Gerard Cosmetics products are as good as this since this single lipstick was my first purchase through them. Hands down one of the best lippies I’ve ever owned!

  • How cute does Christina of OhSoGlam look in this military vest by TOBI?! Yeah, pretty darn stunning! Check out her ootd post on this look (from 2013); you won’t regret it. ;) And while you’re at it go to tobi.com because they are having a 50% off EVERYTHING sale until tomorrow! GO GO GO!
The reason I bring up this wonderfully styled photo is because military vests and jackets like this haven’t gone out of style in the last couple of years. If anything, they have gotten more and more popular. I just scored a vest exactly like the one pictured at Marshalls last month (by the brand Per Se). It’s a semi light-weight transitional piece that pairs well with pretty much anything! Right now I love that the adjustable/defined waistline helps minimized my baby bump/love handles but, overall I think I’ll be wearing this for the duration of fall and beginning of winter (weather permitting).

So there you are, my loves; shortened list of what I loved over the last month. Four great favorites for the beginning of autumn and I’m sure there are a lot more to come. Thanks so much for stopping by and if you have a September Favorites post be sure to leave the link below so I can check it out! More from me soon! <3
