The 2015 Edition of the GBBoE

It arrived before Christmas.

I wrapped it up and tucked it under the tree because anticipation makes everything so much better.

It was the last "gift" I opened Christmas Day and I was SO stoked!
As always, the presentation is delightful.

Safely cushioned in a bubble wrap bed.

Complete with the little extras I purchased this year.

Isn't she beautiful? :oD

The bookmark/ruler is new and improved this year, it's clear and clearly marked in 1/8"s.
I typically wait for the New Year to begin my new calendars, but the EC life planners are put together in such a way that the beginning of the new month has the entire week, including the days in the previous month. So, there was my end of December, ready to roll, and really, I couldn't wait.

I pulled my stickers out and cut them into strips (so happy I figured this out) and pulled out my leftover stickers from last year as well as the 2014 GBBoE, and got to work.

What is it about organizing that I find so soothing and satisfying?

Here it is, January all ready to go. :o)

There's not much different in the book itself this year, but these are fun new additions. They are spiral tabs.

You can adhere them to whatever you wish to keep in your planner and then snap them on in! :o)
I also had some notices of things I'll need to take care of in upcoming months, so I just clipped them right to that month as a reminder.

The Keep it Together pockets are still double-sided and I keep stamps and return address labels in that one.

Oh, I almost forgot! The perpetual calendar that used to be in the front of the planner, and the contacts pages, are both now in a handy little transferable little book that'll tuck right into one of those pockets. This way, you don't have to transfer and recopy info year after year. Brilliant!

Can you see the previous two years' GBBoEs on the top shelf there? :o) I keep them because they're not only journals for me, but I also have made gardening plans on the notes pages, made lists of goals and family road trip ideas and, while I don't necessarily want to recopy them, I certainly don't want to lose them! :o)

So, why do I use a paper planner when my phone and laptop calendars (both Apple products) sync so seamlessly? Because I need space to write things out. Because there is something soothing to me about being able to physically write things in. Because it really is faster for me to hand write an event or reminder in my book than it is for me to type it in. Because it's pretty and I love looking at it (seriously, you can't underestimate this one ;oP). Because I love being able to easily flip forward and back between the months instead of scrolling and scrolling and scrolling. Because I like having a history of what I've done at my fingertips to look back over.

I'm by no means a Luddite--goodness knows I'm a technology hound! But, this is the best choice for me and it works beautifully. I put everything in the GBBoE and then once a week during our family huddle transfer that info to the large family wall calendar--including the meal plan for the week--so everyone is on the same page. I also take that

This is where we keep our family goals for the year; where I jot down MY goals for the year, chore chart lists, yearly to-do lists, spring planting schedules and more. Instead of having sticky notes and notebooks everywhere, I have everything in one location, easily accessible and easy to find.

I know there are less expensive planner options out there, this one just happens to work best for me. :o)

Sparklies:

1. New Year, new recipes. We're trying out black bean and quinoa burgers tonight. :o) (As I was making them, I mixed everything together, patted them out and went to put them in the fridge only to discover I had forgotten the quinoa! Doh!)

2. Warm coats and mittens/gloves and lip balm.

3. Warm candle glow on a cold winter evening.

4. My GBBoE.

No milestones.
