Holiday Decorating

When GG was here Saturday she mentioned there were a couple of displays around her community that had caught her eye and that she wanted me to take a look at them because she knew I'd be able to figure out how they were made. GG thinks very highly of my skills...;o)

I've missed being with her since Bill has fallen and broken his hip. He's been in rehab for the past couple of weeks, and GG goes to see him daily and I think it wears her out. There is truly nothing more exhausting than sitting in a room with someone recovering from surgery or an illness. She comes home and I believe she naps. So, we have no time together in the morning, and then, no time together in the afternoon. :o(

The word is Bill is to come home on Lil's birthday, so hopefully we'll have our normal routine again after the holidays.

At any rate, Bean and I jetted over this morning first thing so we could look at the holiday decorations all her community-mates had put out. She especially wanted me to see these trees, and another little item coming up. She figured I'd know how to make these trees, and indeed I do. :o) I looked and could tell at once how they were done.

Aren't they sweet? I love how they're made with sheet music. I picked up the styrofoam forms from JA on my way home and now I'm scoping out where to get Christmas music paper...

Here's the other little project. It's a simple little three-sided needle point project. Again, nothing too hard about it, although, time-consuming this time of year. Those trees? I can have those made fairly quickly. I couldn't make this little guy quite as fast. Although, I remember learning to do this in second grade. Maybe Lil would like to learn...

I snapped a few photos of some of the trees the residence had put up as well.

Each tree seemed to have a different theme. I think Bean and I liked the snowmen tree the best. :o)

This tree skirt is all kinds of sparkly and beautiful.

We cruised up and down the A, C, and D wings as well as the front and the gathering room. Along the way we ran into a number of Grandma's friends, many of whom asked after Bill. I can tell she's happy to be someplace with other folks around, people who are friends and take the time to ask and are genuinely interested.

I also noted they must not get many wee-ish ones there. Bean was quite the star of the day. :oP

She and I finished our morning with a trip to TJ's and the 'Jay. I realize just how much I'm going to miss my partner in crime when she starts school next year. :o( But, that's a ways off, so I'm going to just ignore it for now. :oP

Sparklies:

1.
I finished my wreath for my front door.

I've had everything and just haven't been disciplined enough or had time enough to pull it together.

I like that you can really see it from the street. :oP

2.

CW's holiday decorations are delightful, as always. We've had little in the way of sun for the past two weeks and I'm starting to miss it. Trying to take photos of lovely decorations sans beautiful golden light is a bit tricky.

3.
Fred and Holly shared a bit of space yesterday.

4.
Fred has become a bit of a lap kitty of late.

5.

Bean's hair. I had a nightmare Sunday that she took clippers to her hair and clippered it all off. I was horrified! :oS

6. Holiday prep is moving right along. :o) I still need to make those cookies for our food pantry, and the cookies I typically make. Dani's coming Saturday and we'll make more goodies then. :o) I'd like to try to get some wrapping done each evening, but probably ought to finish my cards first... It'll all get done, and if it doesn't, no biggie.

No milestones.
