LIVE: SMALL APARTMENT - DESK SPACE

Come August, I am finally moving out of my current apartment which I have been living in for the past two years. Now that I am more familiar with London and the different suburbs, I am so excited to move somewhere which is more me - i.e anywhere away from the 'yummy mummy' stepford-wives and Antipodeans / 'Saffas' of where I currently live!

London apartments are notoriously small. Couple that with the fact that a lot of twenty-somethings move into house/flatshares and exist predominantly in their bedrooms, design cheats for small spaces could really help with making you feel like you have more space.

Creating the illusion that your room / space is bigger than it actually is can be done in a number of ways. Using large mirrors, monochromatic colour schemes and creating height in the room are a few examples; however I am currently obsessed with using glass or clear / tinted perspex furniture for that ghostly effect and impression of space. My current bedroom has a massive wooden desk which takes up so much space and is hideous. I would love to replace it with a stylish glass desk like the one below, which would create the illusion of more space, as well as being far more chic.

John Lewis has a great range of home accessories, that would compliment my dream desk space, which I have recreated above. Bright accents and interesting ornaments would go perfectly with carefully selected artworks and posters, finished off with an interesting arm chair or something more modern - in fitting with ghostly furniture, this would be perfect.

The heart chalkboard would be so perfect with a touch of DIY - personally I would love to paint the frame a bold neon or even better, glitter it up.
